A hot Summer Day
Winds like a gale
A fire rushed away
Like it was following a trail
Nothing was heard
Nobody knew
That this fire had occurred
And was moving quickly too
Smoke filled the air
The flames would appear
People were left to stare
As the CFA rushed with the gear
The many sky cranes
Dropped water from up high
To save the plains
Still nobody knew why.
Fires numbered three
Blazes out of control
As many tried to flee
Even into a wombat hole
The firers fought
With much determination
But who would have thought
There would be so must devastation
Australia rallied
Donations from afar
Nobody dallied
It was all very bizarre
Clothing & Food
Medicine & Help
All improved the mood
But many animals yelp
Care was given
One Arsonist Caught
Police all driven
By survivors Distraught
Victims are found
Families lost
Communities gather round
And count the cost
The weather now cool
Containment lines set
Blacked out fuel
To reduce the threat
From everyone here
Well wishes are sent
To calm the fear
To ease the torment
