My lips were running dry,
when I spoke to you.
Our friendship died,
your heart was in two.
I failed you twice,
my precious friend.
Twas cold as ice,
on New Year's End.
By this time you have healed,
and would have forgotten.
Emotions I have sealed,
words that were spoken.
You are this knight's armor,
the true sign of valor.
Will you ever forgive me,
for my heart-shaped misery?

- Hey, this is actually pretty good. Normally the rhymes in poems like this (i.e. short poems about real-life events) are so forced it's not even funny, and most poems like this have no substance at all (i.e. "you don't love me but I love you/ I thought out love was true" wink , but this one certainly is above the norm.
