• I’m sitting here in French and I don’t know what to do.
I could read Harry Potter, but I don’t feel so “parlez-vous.”
I’m surrounded by my tiny class, there’s you and those three, too,
But I’m still sitting here in French class, without a thing to do.

The teacher’s at her desk and she’s ripping something up.
I really wish I had her coffee—I could use a cup.
    I’m a wet-behind-the-ears Française, just a wannabe Euro-pup.
I wish I had the balls to pump some music up!

I sit all the way in the back, so the teacher doesn’t see,
When I do my Physics homework and ignore her blatantly.
And if I could, I would, my friend (just between you and me),
I’d pull a boat out from my coat and sail on out to sea.

I’m sitting here in French and it really is a bore.
I hate this public education down to my very core.
But, I’ll tell you true and I’ll tell you now—it isn’t any lore,
That Mademoiselle left American shores to become a jolly French—fry cook!

Oh, I’m sitting here in French and I don’t know what to do.
I could read Harry Potter, but I don’t feel so “parlez-vous.”
I really wish, with all my heart, that I could escape to,
Some cute little isle, be Queen of the Nile, avec all of you!

Well, I’m sitting right here in good old French without a thing to do.
Mademoiselle says read Harry Potter, but I just can’t find my “parlez-vous.”
I’ve got la classe de française all around me—you, you, you, and you—
But I’ve still sitting here in French class and I haven’t got a thing to do!
