Last Day

If today was your last day,
What would your last words be?
What’s the thing you’ve wanted to say?
What would you say to me?

Would you tell me a secret?
The one that’s too dark too hear?
Or would you say “I love you,”
To all those you hold dear?

Would you say a simple sentence?
One to say it all?
Or would you give an hour long speech,
Before death comes to call?

If today was my last day,
I would say it right before I died.
The one thing I would say to you,
Would be simply, “Please, don’t cry.”
