• There was a change in the air,
    Something unable to be seen,
    Yet almost tangible,
And I knew it was my time,

The blades of grass beneath my bare feet, And all around me,
Pointed in the direction the wind blew,
And it blew over the steep cliff side,
Where I could see the jagged rocks and frigid water below,

    I peered down, fearless,
    And determined,
    And I heard my name,
    Carried from over the mountains,
    Floating over the seas,

Where it enveloped me like a fog,
    Like a phantom,
    Like a hope,

    And suddenly,
    I felt myself falling,
But I saw myself still standing at the edge,
Looking down at the part of me who was set free,

And I held out my hand,
And so did the body I had left behind,
"Follow me," I whispered into the wind,

    I smiled,
And she spread out her arms like wings,
"You can fly now," I said,

And she leaned against the wind,
    And fell.
