• The Mirror

Happiness is the sugar of all emotions.
    So sweet, savory, diverse.
Love is the number one brand,
    Top selling across the planet.

Depression is but an old, stale, bitter, chocolate,
From the corner of the deepest abyss of oblivion,
At the top of which is a trail,
A journey, with the finale of a dead end.
    This trail is marked joy.

The dead end drops you down, down, down.
You continue to plummet for days on end.
    Ground hits you,
    Sudden and without warning.
Reality suddenly taking the form of gravity,
You feel the weight of life's evils crushing your bones.
Sorrow, lonliness, sadness, misery, pain, heartbreak.
Destroying every last quivering ameoba of hope.

As you attempt to escape the hellish grasp of this peculiar gravity,
    You see a light.
    Not knowing what to do,
    It draws you in,
As north and south poles of a magnet are attracted,
    Thus, creating an everlasting bond.
You approach the light, slowly, gingerly.

Reaching out to touch it as you stand there paralyzed in awe,
It sends a chill down your aching spine,
As it touches your cold and seemingly lifeless fingertips.
You stare into it deeply as if to be hypnotized.
It whirs to life, showing you every moment of happiness you've ever experienced

Still numb and lost from the fall, it takes you a while to realize,
    You're crying.
The memories and dregs of your happiness shall be forgotten and left to die,
As the embers of a fire are swept from the hearth and sprinkled into the wind.

As you become progressively engrossed in your forgotten happiness,
    Silence.
    Again, you are alone, forever.
Dropping to your knees you hide your face in your hands and sob.

The last mirror of hope is gone forever.
It will never be seen by your eyes again.
It's gone and it took your heart with it.
The mirror did to you as he did to me.
Though I did not know him, I loved him.

But never shall I see him again.
For this I shall always have the taste of Hell's candy on the tip of my tongue.
