• Title: To be Free in a Grave
    By: Kit Katy

I stand here in pouring rain,
Feeling like I was born again.
    As happiness feels my chest,
    To finally be at rest.
I loom across the chilling graves.

    Normally you'd find it despiteful,
    Yet I find it delightful.
    Once you've seen my life,
you'll find that it's not sweet paradise.

    I walk along the shores,
    Viewing the lights.
    Raising dimples from flat sores.
    Finally I have these rights!

You see a long time ago,
I used to be a bard.
Singing songs have brought me so far,
    But Mother discouraged my playing.

With her voice raised, she said
"Can't you be more useful? Sowing would be more suitable!"

    It wasn't just my Ma,
It also was my dear Pa.
He took me by the hand and said,
    "You shame us all."

If I really showed my family as weak,
    Then why should I stay?
I'll sing my heart to the moon and stars,
    For they will never ache.

Taking a silver knife and plunging through my soul,
I've waited for this freedom for so long!
    No one to criticize,
No one to roll their eyes,
No one to say I was in the wrong.

I stand here in pouring rain,
Feeling like I was born again.
    As happiness feels my chest,
    To finally be at rest.
I loom across the chilling graves.

    I'm Free!
    I am Free!
Thank you knife for releasing me.
