• It starts young, weak. A seed, planted into your body, not yet ready to develop. Time goes on, the seed grows. Branching through your blood, grasping at your nerves.

It spreads; a tingling in the pit of your stomach, a pull at the back of your head; faint, unnoticeable.

Assault. Roots stretch along your skull, slipping into your mind. Vines, sharp, determined, corrupting your thoughts. Pain, unbearable.

Experience. It knows you. It feeds through you. It controls you. Descend to madness.

It is immortal, invincible. You cannot destroy it, cannot hide it, cannot rise above it. Sink under the weight of its influence, down, down, down, until you hit the bottom.

Reach for others, yearn for their warmth, their affection. The seed will burn to ashes. They could take the pain away. They turn their heads, want nothing to do with you; the seed thrives on their rejection, reaching deeper into your mind. It has engulfed you.

Breathe, can you feel it? The oxygen burns your lungs. The seed feeds on your life, pushing you to your death. No remorse.

Every day wait for the end that won’t come. Sleep. Wake. Repeat.

Fade away under its influence, there is nothing left. There is no turning back.

    It has taken over, indefinitely.
