• Binding a heart

    I'll lock my music
    In a box
    bound up tight
    with chains and locks
    and then I'll strum
    a melancholy song
And if the mood is right,
    I will sing along.

    But alas,
no matter how hard I might try
To keep my music locked and bound
I can never really mute the sound
No, my heart's song is far too loud
And desires to be heard by many crowds

For don't we all want people to hear
Our hearts' songs we hold so dear?
    To understand how we feel
    To know we are human,
    To know we are real.

So maybe I'll open my locks
That hold my song inside this box
For only I hold the key
To this box that is keeping me.
