• With my feet on my pillow,
    My head is burrowed deep,
I'm curled beneath a sea of blankets,
    Silky teal
    Slippery stripes.
They shine when my door opens
    And my mother creeps in.
    I am sobbing.
    She strokes my back,
    Through the blanket,
    My green jacket,
    My blue shirt,
    White tank top,
    And my skin.
The touch travels to my brain,
    VIA nerves,
    And I am soothed.
    She inches off my jacket
    And spins me around,
So I am laying with my head on the pillow,
    And my feet burrowed deep.
