• "What Is This Feeling?"

    What is this feeling?
    Centered in my chest?
    It's like constricting,
    And never lets me rest.

    It's like the bitter cold,
    Numbing me from the inside.
An emptiness that cannot be filled,
Far too strong to be gone from my side.

    What is this feeling?
    Centered in my chest?
It's like a forceful tug, never letting go,
Leaving my mind spinning to and fro.

It's like the merciless rain during a storm,
    Drenching me.
Like ice cold needles against my skin,
    Piercing me.

    What is this feeling?
    Centered in my chest?
That as my body slips into oblivion,
Disappears last from all the rest.

    What is this feeling?
    Centered in my chest?
That as my mind cuts the last of my mortal strings,
Is as sad as a crying violin when it sings.

    What is this feeling?
    Centered in my chest?
    Like hope shining through,
    When I see it's you.

You stand tall with an outstretched hand,
Your fingers warm as they enclose mine, waking me.
Your voice as you speak brings a new light,
Breaking through the darkness that surrounds me.

    What is this feeling?
    Centered in my chest?
    That whenever I see you,
Makes me feel as if I'm the best.

It's just as simple and amazing,
As cherry blossoms in the spring,
A warmth that only exists when you are near,
So bright it chases away my every fear.

    What is thing feeling?
    Centered in my chest?
That's as soft as you're hands drying away my tears,
Letting me know that you'll be by my side for the rest of my years.
