• Any life can take a turn.
    Paths, pursuits, and passions bright
    Suddenly flip. The oils burn

    Long after simple layman's night.
She's got the shakes and takes a nap,
But dreaming cannot set her right.

No passion's left for this poor sap.
No shame for her? She'll boast mistakes.
    Her accident was no mishap.

Says she still likes the pills she takes.
Her face is almost like a stone
    With eyes suggesting lapis lakes.

Her gaze says, "Don't leave me alone,"
Or maybe "Tell me I'm okay."
I can't believe she called my phone.

Her company was manic; enigmatic, in a way.
I hope she heals her misery, but hope she doesn't stay.
