After the sudden two man attack from Zarak and Ky against the demon kingdom, only a few of the demon kingdom's citizens remained. They would have help repopulating from the demons of the underworld of course, but only after it was safe, and the latest threat to the world was destroyed. Zarak, after he attacked the demon kingdom, headed back to the human's domain. With Ky's longsword in one hand and his own broadsword in the other, he made his way to the counsil...and kept his promise. Each one of the counsilmen sent the knights to stop Zarak. Along with the counsilmen, the knights that tried to stop him were killed and devoured by Zarak. All the other kingdoms heard of this attack and decided to aid the humans before Zarak went after them as well. It was at this point that a world war was starting. A world war against only one man. A man would be now and forever known only as...the Soulless One...
Me and Statius fell from above and landed onto the ground below. Of course, Virgil was already ahead of us, face down on the ground as we got there. Jared: "Virgil, are you okay?" Virgil: "Hoooohweeeee...yeah mommy, the ricecakes are in the fridge..." Jared: "..." Statius: "...right. Anyway, this looks like the place. Gardens of plentiful fruits and cascades of cool, pure water. This is it. The Garden of the Forbidden Fruit." It seems Virgil finally gained composure, standing up and commenting on Statius' note. Virgil: "Yeah...it all looks so beautiful. This is a trial I'm gonna like!" Jared: "..." I didn't want to say anything, cause I knew it was just like the last floor. Our version of the sins differ from each other. What they saw...I wish I would be watching the same thing as them. What I saw all around me was indeed a garden, but it was burnt, no water was anywhere and blood and black ash covered what should've been the green plants and clear blue waters. Dead people laid all around, their bodies burnt and mangled beyond recognition. It was awful, a scene like this would even make my wife, Mina, cringe from disgust, and she's a vampire! Jared: "...wish I could enjoy it as much as you two..." Statius: "Well, we won't be able to enjoy it by eating or drinking." Virgil: "What do you mean?" Statius: "The fruit and waters around us, if we were to partake of these delights, you'd soon find out they aren't so delightful. In fact, if we did, it would make us MORE hungry and thirsty. The only thing here that wouldn't is the Forbidden Fruit, and if we ate that? Well, our souls would turn themselves inside out and collapse. Certainly wouldn't satisfy our hunger if that happened." Jared: "...Statius, how would you know this?" Statius: "Because I've been through the trials myself many times before. This is my 108th time through, but not once have I made it all the way through." Virgil: "Yikes! I don't wanna go through this thing a hundred times!" Statius: "And you won't so long as you don't eat or drink one thing here." Jared: "Good, cause I'm definetly not hungry for any of this crap." Virgil: "C-Crap!? How could you say that!?" Statius: "He might have the right idea, thinking of all of this in that manner, or not thinking about it at all is best, as we must go through this garden in order to reach the next terrace." Statius then pointed to the end of the garden, barred gates that lead to the next and final terrace of Purgatory. Virgil: "...I suppose your right. It seems a long ways away though. Guess we better get a move on!" Virgil ran ahead of us. Before I could move to catch up with him, Statius stopped me. Statius: "...You see something different than we do, don't you...what the Soulless One would see." Jared: ".....it matters not. I have no interest in what he wants. Especially not this." Statius: "Perhaps...but it might be better for you to come to terms with-" Before he could say anymore, I drew my knife to his throat. Jared: "...you speak another word about that, you die. Is that understood?" Statius: "Now you really are threatening me!" Jared: "Your damn right I am." Statius: "...very well, not another word about it." Virgil: "Come on guys! Let's go! I don't wanna starve to death before we get to the gates!" After Virgil yelled out to us, I sheathed my dagger. Jared: "...right. Sorry." Statius: "Come merry companion, verily we ride to the gates!" Jared: "V-Verily? Hey, wait up!"
The three of us moved through the garden, heading towards the gates. If this was to purge us of the sin of gluttony, it certainly was 'purged' as I threw up halfway to the gates from the sights I saw as we walked. Thankfully, that helped Virgil and Statius control their craving better. We were almost there...when Virgil fell on his knees. Virgil: "I...I can't go on...I half to eat something, ANYTHING..." Jared: "..." Statius: "Better not be me!" Virgil: "Ugh...I have to eat something...how about this fruit over here?" Statius: "I wouldn't recommend that. You'll be even worse off not eating anything that having THAT." Virgil: "I don't care...I'm so-" Jared: "Virgil." Virgil: "...?" Jared: "There will be plenty of food where you'll be. Everything your heart truly wants. By the end of this...you'll have it. I promise." Statius: "..." Virgil: "...t-thank you Jared...your right, and we'll all make it there, to the end." Jared: "That's right. Now come on. The gates aren't that far now." The three of us kept walking along, none of us stopped for anything within the garden. We finally made it to the end, both Statius and Virgil wheezing and gasping for food and water. I was the only one with enough strength to open the gates before us. The second I did, a light shined beyond the gates. We all walked through it, and went on to the last terrace. With no trace of Casella still being with me, I was kinda worried, not for myself, but for her...
