The last of the terraces lead us to the top of a large tower. The tower we stood upon was so far above the ground, I swear I thought I could see a giant halo around us. Our Purgatory was complete, and scars and burns were healed when we got to the top of this huge tower. I would say it was a sight to behold, but I was too concentrated on the fact that Casella stood in front of us with a knife at her throat. The person holding the knife was Frenum.
Frenum: "Jared...I'll say this once more, I cannot allow you to do this."
Jared: "It's already over Frenum. Let go of Casella and just tell me how I break the spell over my son."
Virgil: "Yeah! Let her go, she's got nothing to do with this!"
Frenum: "If I did that, Zarak will be freed, I can't allow that."
Statius: "I can."
Jared: "Statius?" He walked closer to Frenum, but stopped as he held the knife closer to Casella's throat.
Frenum: "What are you doing Statius? And why's he still alive? I paid you to kill him!"
Statius: "You paid me by giving me the chance to ascend to the heavens without having to go through Purgatory, but I did go through it, with Jared and Virgil. He can destroy Zarak, after going through Purgatory with Jared, I know that for a fact."
Jared: "Statius..."
Frenum: "D-Dammit...Damn you, all three of you!" Frenum threw the knife at us and pushed Casella away from him. Casella was thrown off the tower, but see flew back up to us. The knife hit Virgil in the neck. Blood sprayed from his neck as he flew back from the blow and fell off the tower. Unfortunetly, he didn't have wings.
Jared: "Virgil!"
Statius: "No!...why you little..."
Frenum: "None of you! None of you can survive this day!" With that, a light grew from his hands. He slammed them on the ground and a burst of holy light came from him. The light was so intense that it could be seen from miles away. When the light finally cleared itself away, Statius, Casella, and I were all still standing, protected by a barrier that Casella lifted over the three of them. Frenum charged after the barrier was blown away and tried to stab me with another knife he had. I simply locked his arm with mine and disarmed him.
Frenum: "I can't let you do this...I can't-"
Casella: "Elder Frenum...please...you promised to help Jared get rid of the Zarak. He wants to destroy him, he won't release him onto the world once again...I swear it..."
Frenum: ".........fine. Jared, go with Statius to Paradise. In there...you'll find the way to break the spell. Your son...and you, you'll both be freed."
Statius: "...to Paradise...to the heavens..."
Casella: "Yes, it's finally time for you to embrace God, Statius. Jared, come with us." With that, she raised her hand and the three of us were enveloped in the light to the heavens above us. The halo I saw moving along with us as we ascended...
