Holiday

I am not particularly religious, in that I don’t feel I need to give my faith or my creator a name
However, this season does something to everyone, despite what you believe or choose not to
This time of year reminds me that we are really all just people trying to get by
Souls trying to pass through this life and leave the world a little better than when we found it
Sure the past year saw its share of mistakes and things we couldn’t quite explain why they happened
But I know that through the 365 days that I spent on this planet this year, good came out of it
And for all the good, there is indeed some bad, but then everything is in balance
How can we know what “good” is without experiencing “bad”?
How can we truly feel a spirit warming laugh if we’ve never cried until we thought our hearts would shatter?
The ties broken, the friendships jeopardized or ended, the trusts betrayed, the opportunities lost are all counterbalanced by the friendships made and the ties made stronger, the trusts that were granted or reaffirmed, and the opportunities that have not yet been realized or have not presented themselves to us yet.
The end of the year “Holiday” is indeed a time for reflection
A time to find inner peace
A time to understand the choices we made during the year were made for whatever reason and they are exactly where they need to be
In the past
And the hopes and dreams of tomorrow that are either a long time coming or haven’t even been thought of yet are only a thought away
I hope this finds you in a serene state of mind, and may your “Holiday” bring you peace, hope, happiness and joy
May all past grievances not necessarily be forgotten, but not be allowed to develop into grudge
And may you take time everyday to sit down, if only for a moment, close your eyes, and smile
For though our lives are short, the time we have is just that
Ours
