Chapter 3

The airship departed from the dock and began it's airbound journey to Izlude. I went outside to the deck to see the sights. The ocean was below and to the east was beautiful plains and patches of forest. I walked to the side railing to get a better view. It was spectacular! The birds flying alongside the airship and the wind whipping through my hair. One thing is for sure, this is one thing I will not forget. About an hour later, the airship arrived at Izlude airport. I got off and made my way to the town center. I picked up some supplies with what little money I had on me and left the Izlude to Prontera. I walked past a couple of Novices talking about what job they should go for. I made my way to the gates to Prontera and saw that they were closed tight. There were some others waiting to get inside so I decided to ask them what was going on. "The gates are closed because there is a really powerful monster on the loose in this area." Just then, the beast emerged from the brush. It was enormous and hairy with red,glowing eyes and snarling fangs. It wielded a giant cleaver and sharp claws. Everyone except a few ran to get to safety. I stayed behind to help fight the beast off. " Look out! It's Atroce!" I drew my blade from it's scabbard and readied myself. A wizard cast an Ice Wall spell to give us adequate time to prepare ourselves for the battle. A gunslinger hiding nearby had readied himself with a rifle. A Priest was giving everyone extra strength and other enhancements. The ice wall gave way and the beast came crashing through. I had to dodge out of the way to avoid getting squashed by it.The Gunslinger started firing but the bullets were barely doing anything to it. The wizard was busy casting Storm Gust and the Priest was still healing the three other Crusaders that were keeping Atroce busy. I ran forward for an attack on the beast just as it swung it's enormous cleaver and barely hit me. I ran forward to attack again and made a swing at the beast's arm. It howled in pain and knocked me flying to the side. My head hit a tree and I got knocked unconcsious. I woke up in a bed with the people who were at the gates surrounding me. "What happened? Did we beat it?" I asked the Priest. "No. We didn't beat it. You did." I stared questioningly at him. "What?" I looked to the side to see the Wizard and two of the Crusaders also resting but with many cuts and bruises. "You went berserk and killed the beast with almost no effort and also came after all of us too." I now stared in shock. "How?! I don't remember doing any of it!" The priest put his hand on my shoulder. "We know. That's why we didn't kill you. We just knocked you unconscious again. You got up after being knocked away but you had a strange look in your eyes. They had turned black with yellow iris' and you had a dark aura around you. The only thing I could guess is that you might be cursed." I sat up. "I can't remember anything from before this week." I started to tell them the story of how I got to Prontera.
