Part I: Chapter 2
*Sane wakes up to the sounds of the birds chirping on a tree. He looks around him dazed adn confused not knowing where he was until he recollected his toughts from last night. He gets up limping a bit from teh fact his leg is numb due to laying in a weird position against the Tavern wall. He stretches and scratches his head going over to the garden pool and washing his face with the water and then combing his hair into place with his hand* God, I always fall asleep so early... mmm I'm hungry, wonder if the tavern has some food...

::Kari awoke the next morning and opened her eyes to the sun peeking through the leaves of the tree she had slept in. On one of the thick lower branches, she had laid with her back against the tree's trunk and fallen asleep. She stretched and dropped down to the ground without checking to see if anyone was in the vascinity. She was only half-dressed, having shed her cloak, boots, and shirt, leaving her in her chestwrap (not really a bra, it's like a cloth bandage that covers from the armpit to about an inch above the navel) and pants, much more comfortable to sleep in. Still half-asleep, she moved to the edge of the water and knelt. After taking a drink, she splashed some of the cool water on her face and dampened her hair, humming quietly in the peaceful morning::

*Sane rises from his sitting position and sees Kari washing her face. He raises an eyebrow as he sees she is not even fully dressed. He turns red adn quickly turns around knowing better than to stare at a girl that was barely clothed. He smiles and sneaks a peek again before turning around* Ahem... Kari you might want to dress up you don;t want to catch a cold out here. *Sane giggles*

::She looks up, surprised to see him there, and calmly dries her face and hands on her cloak. She stands, a bit of a smirk on her face. She was not uncomfortable to be seen in such garb, she had always been considered inappropriate, especially when among humans:: You act as though you've never seen a woman in her cloth before, my good Sane.

*Sane turns around a bit, his face almost a beet red.* Yes well... ahhh... *Sane turns redder and looks down at the ground* I have a lot of respect when it comes to ladies... *Sane grins* Although I do enjoy your beauty... I must say, it fills my heart with joy. *Sane winks at Kari and smiles now fully turned around with a once again kool look to him*

::She smiled kindly as she leaned back against the tree in which she had slept, her eyes still resting on Sane:: Do not be shy around me, we are much of the same. Both outcasts, both not fitting in to where we come from. ::At his mention of her looks, her smile faded and her eyes turned to the side:: It is only a silhouette of Elvish magic that entreats your eyes, kind sir.

*Sane looks at her and walks up to her very face bending down resting on his knee. He raises an eyebrow and lifts up her chin* I'm not intrested in Elven Magic and what it does... I'm sure that's not what make you beautiful to my eyes, maybe no one has told you this but you are a sight to see. *Sane steps back and sits on the ground plucking a blade of grass and splitting it down the middle. He grins and scratches his head again*

::She looks back to him in disbelief at his words. Her cheeks flush slightly, and then she smiles softly, her eyes laughing:: You are a rare creature, Sane. ::She laughed lightly for a moment, then turned to the tree and climbed it, returning shortly after with two ripe red apples. She moved to the water's edge and sat down once more. After washing them in the crystal-clear water, she turned back to him and held one out with a grin:: Here, you must be hungry...

*Sane takes the apple looking at it before smiling* I'm ravished... A unicorn is a rare creature... me I'm just a boy who right now could eat a horse! *Sane grins and bites into the apple chewing thoughtfully*

::She laughed and took a bite of her own apple, sitting there sprawled on the grass. Her pointed ears twitched at the sound of the newcomer and she swallowed, turning her head toward the tavern. Listening intently, she looked much like a fox or a wolf or perhaps a cat, poised tensely at a distant sound::

*Sane looks at her his head cocked to the side...* What is the matter?

::Kari finished her apple and stood, moving back to the base of the tree where her shirt, cloak, and boots lay along with her weapons. Still listening intently, she pulled on her shirt and boots. After fastening her cloak and strapping her sword and dagger back onto her belt, she looked to Sane with a reply:: Someone's here...

*Sane listens hearing nothing* Well, if you say so... *Sane gets up from his place on eth ground finishing the apple and tossing the core over his shoulder he checked his leg to make sure the dagger he had on him most of his travels was there.* Hmmm... you know you almost look dangerous right now. *Sane giggles and smiles at Kari*

::She relaxed, realizing that there really wasn't any reason to be on her guard. She looked to Sane and smirked amusedly, one eyebrow raised:: You don't know me very well. I'm always dangerous. ::She gave a cocky grin and then turned her gaze back to the tavern:: Besides, there's no reason to worry. We don't even own this place. But perhaps the newcomers do not know about the way of things. We should inform them, shouldn't we?

*Sane nods and raises an eyebrow* Sure we should at least say Hi... So you're alway dangerous right? He he mayeb I should stay away? *Sane gives Kari a playful shove*

Hey! ::she laughed and shoved him back as they made their way inside. Kari saw the woman at the bar and moved over to her:: You know, there isn't a barkeeper here. It took us a while to figure out as well, but you can just take what you want from behind the bar.

*Sane nods in agreement* Yup... an open bar. *Sane goes behind teh counter trying to rumage for some food.* Awww, where in the world does the owner store things here? *His head pops up from behind the counter and smiles at Kari and the girl.* Darn owner... can't even find a drop of food...

::Kari grinned slyly and closed her eyes, passing her hands over the counter. When she was done, a few platters of food sat on the bar. The half-elf opened her eyes and smiled, relieved that it had worked:: Good! I wasn't sure if it would work this time! Help yourselves!

*Sane's head pops up once more from behind the bar and he raises an eyebrow.* Where in the... Nevermind *Sane smiles and grabs a plateful of food, he hadn't eaten anything in almost two days except for a few pieces of bread which he finished last morning. He came here hoping to restock on goods and go off again* Mmmmm... this food is really good... *Sane shovels more food into his mouth*

::Kari smiled to see him eating and then thought of how long she had lingered there. Far too long, she knew. Much longer than she had planned. She had been on her way to Velnarre and had just stopped at the Tavern to rest and regain her strength before moving onto the last leg of her journey. Thoughts of leaving caused her eyes to dim and her smile to fade. She enjoyed Sane's company...::

*Sane looks up from his food seeing Kari's face sadden he stops eating and looks into her saddened eyes* What's wrong Kari? Did I do something to upset you? *Sane clearly shows true concern in his voice*

::Shaken somewhat from her thoughts, Kari looks to him, her eyes dim and hazed. Not knowing where her words came from, she spoke:: Would you come with me?

*Sane raises an eyebrow and opens his mouth before shutting it tightly and mumbling* What do you mean Kari? You mean go with you on your travels? *Sane looks into Kari's eyes for a long moment*

::She speaks again, still hazed:: I never stay in one place too long...I am headed for Velnarre...I plan to stay there a while...Try to find my father...Would you come with me?

*Sane looks at Kari for the longest time before awnsering... He knew he too had a quest only his was to find his mother's killer... Yet mother would understand this. She always had told him folllow your heart. Sane nods* I will join you... I'll gladly help you find your father! *Sane smiles and puts his hand on his heart* I promise I shall stay with you till the very end.

::She smiled softly and her eyes glowed a bit. She touched the center of her forehead:: Grace of the Moon, ::she then touched her cheeks just below her eyes:: Tears of the Sun... ::her hands clasped before her chest:: I shall will you with me, to your word. ::Having completed the formality, she lowered her hands and spoke sincerely:: ...Thank you...

*Sane nods and smiles* There is no need to thank me I enjoy being in your presence... *Sane laughs and looks at his food not even hungry anymore for the excitement provided him with enough food to last a life time*

::Her grin broadened and she looked to the window:: It is late morning already. We should pack and set out soon.

*Sane nods and sighs. He couldn't wait to set out again. He goes over behind the bar and grabs a small bundle. Those were his only belongings... He left without anything from his house. Left it all there...* Okay well I'm ready Kari... *Sane's eye glow with warmth*

::Kari wrapped up some of the bread and apples in a cloth and tied it. She then smiled to Sane:: As am I. ::They went to the stables where Kari tacked up her black stallion and tucked the food into a saddlebag. She mounted and waited for her new traveling partner::

*Sane gives a low whistle as a white horse trots up to Sane. He swings hi leg over the horse an mounts it.* We're all set than? *Sane pats his horse neck and smiles*

::Kari smiled and nodded, then gently tapped her heels against her steed's ribs and they were on their way. As always, Kari received many odd stares from villagers as they passed. She wasn't suprised that it wasn't every day that these humans saw an elf woman dressed in garb much resembling a man's cloth. Ignoring their uncomfortable stares and mumbles, Kari pushed through the crowds of the market and down the stone-paved street. They finally reached the forest and continued on at a fast walk for the moment. An anger bit at her, as it usually did when she received such stares, but she fought it back, focusing on the journey ahead. It was three days' ride to Velnarre::
