• I can hear the bells ringing
To tell all of the holiday.
I can hear the choirs singing
to give joy to all on the holiday.

But what have I to sing about?
    What have I to add?
When a light of my family has been blown out?
When I can only feel sad?

    What spirits come and go,
they will have not to do me.
For my heart is laden down with sorrow,
even for their sightless eyes to see.

A light snow falls softly on the gound
to blanket in a frosty cold.
It be much easier, I have found,
to just let life's events unfold.

I cannot be joyful this holiday,
for there is no joy when one is lost.
But I know now that I can still say
"There can be joy in cold and frost."

I will carry on, though one is lost
the warm lights will shine again.
I can see the joy in cold and frost,
I see that I can have joy on the holiday once again.
