I've searched in my heart for the song,
The carol that would tie me to the season.
No snow falls here, no White Christmas,
No family to share, no Home for Christmas,
No chimney for Santa, barely a roof to land on
For the blue tarp still lay across it from 3 years passed.
I could count on Jesus if I weren't so damaged.
And I know in my heart that he would accept me still,
But I'm still so raw, so fresh in the
Pain that separation leaves in its wake,
That longing and need leave in your heart.
There too are few carols that I could sing,
Too few songs, stories to tie the season and me,
But Christmas will yet live, the star will continue to shine,
And so long as I keep them in my heart,
Family and loved ones are never too far.
So this is my song, this is my story,
And I'll sing it, I'll hold it and carry it inside,
Until a new carol is made or the old ones ring true and
My heart beats loud with family and loved ones around.
