• An ear splitting roar broke through my dream. Startled I fell from my bed shouting into the darkness.
    “What’s going on?”
    “What do you think?”
A mass figure muttered back as it leapt from the bed across from mine and crouched.

Glancing over I saw him reach beneath his bed and pull out a wooden box.
“Who are they? What do they want? How did they find us?”
Ignoring my pointless questions he flipped the lid of the box and tossed me a ring with a Z carved into it.
“Put that on and shut up.”

As he spoke the door to the room was blasted off of its hinges.
“Captain we’ve located two of the renegades!” a voice shouted.
A man clad in blue armor stood looking down upon the two of us; his right hand let of an eerie blue glow as he pointed at me.
    “Zack move!”

From next to me he launched himself in front of me. Everything slowed down as his body and a glowing blue ball met in front of me. With the sound of a gunshot he collapsed on the ground in front of me.
    “Mark?” I whispered.
No response came from the body it just lay steaming in front of me.

“Now for you.” The soldier laughed.
He raised his hand; and once more the blue glow revealed itself around him.
“What’s this? You thinking of fighting back little man?”
My hands had begun to shake as I jumped up from the ground. A dull grey light had formed from my ring.
“I’ll kill you.” At this point they had begun to twist up around me from the ring.

“What is this?” The guard asked me taking several steps back.
“We didn’t do anything to you all, and what do we get in return? You kill us!”
I had begun shouting as I extended my right hand.

The bandages shot from my hand wrapping around the mans face and ripping his helmet off. His eyes were wide with fear as the bands wrapped around his mouth.
“Do you regret this now?” Tears had filled my eyes and were rushing down my cheeks. I didn’t care what would he remember? He was about to die.

Minutes passed and finally the body slumped over. With a grimace I turned facing the Mark’s body. There was no way that I could carry him out; he was much too big for that. Silently I rolled him onto his back, closed his eyes, and crossed his arms. I stood looking at the body for a moment and then lowered myself over him again and slid a silver ring off of his finger.

“I’ll tear this ******** country apart.” I whispered to him before turning and leaving the room. Alarms were still sounding, gunfire cut through those, and above all else I could hear to leaders both shouting commands.
