• Chapter 1: The Fated Meeting
"All my life I haver never loved anything more than my darling, Eva"
Cold. So very cold. I fell the numbness creep over my body, stealing the life inside of me. My body slowly stops shivering, it must finally be accepting my death. There is no reason left for this body to fight, no home, no family. Everything I once had I have lost to this pointless war.
The snow is falling so gently, it reminds me of the days when I was young. Especially one particular day that has remained in my mind since then. The day I first met Eva, my beloved. It was snowing much like today....
That day seemed like an ordinary early winter day for my village, cloudy and frigid. I was about seven years old, my family and I lived in a poor farming village. My family had lived here for generations, since the time this village was first established. The sky showed signs of snow on its way, so the boys of the village want to play before the snow came. We all decided to play our favorite game, "Hunter and the hunted." It was our favorite game because it the only reason we had to explore the forest outside the village.
After few rounds of hunting down other boys in the village it was my turn. I decided to push my luck and run deeper in to the forest than anyone had before. The deeper I traveled the colder the air became, until I realized I had gone too far. I started running back in the direction where I thought the village was, I feared that the snow was about to fall.
I finally came across a large moss covered pile of stones in a clearing, I knew now I was lost. I had traveled many times before in the forest, but never have I came across this stone pile. I began to look around the surrounding area for a familiar sight, but to no avail. I suddenly heard a humming sound originating from behind the stone pile. So I climbed up the stone pile to catch a sight of the source of the humming. Climbing up the pile I started to distinguish the sound. It sound like a girl humming the tune to the song, "Married under the sun."
I peered over the top of the stones to see the mysterious source of this humming. It was a girl about five or six years old, with long bond hair, and wore a tattered dress. I could not see her face, her long hair was obstructing my view of it. She was knelt over picking flowers from a small patch in the clearing. Then something caught my eye, a flower that she wore in her hair. It was a rare white rose, similar to the moon flower in its taste of shade, but grew only during the early winter.
Unaware, I slowly started to stand on top of the stone pile to get a better view. Something was drawing me closer to this mysterious girl, who seemed unaware of my presence. As I stood on the very top of the stones, the snow began to fall. All I could do was stare, I was mesmerized by this girl who I never met before. Then off in the distance I could hear the sounds of the other boys looking for me.
I quickly jumped of the stone pile to avoid being seen by the girl. As I fell downwards, the girl turned her head towards me, I managed to get a glimpse of her deep blue eyes. I landed on the soft dirt ground, and sat with my back against the stones for a few moments. I then heard her giggle, and run off in to the distance, trampling the dried leaves beneath her feet. As the sound of her running fade, questions of who she was grew in my head.
However, I had no time to sit and ponder, I had to regroup with the others. So I sprinted in the directions where I could hear the other boys, my mind still racing with questions. I thought I would never see her again, but luckily I was wrong.
