• The screams and shouts enter your mind as you stand there looking at the red curtain. Taking a deep breath, you stare at the red and black electric guitar hanging around your neck and the microphone a few inches in front of you. In the background you can hear everyone setting up wondering if this will go as good as planned. You hear the breathing of your band and your heart thumps even louder through your chest as the announcer announces your band name. This is it. The thing that will make us or break us.

With your eyes closed the lights shut off and the curtain goes up. The crowd is screaming and jumping up and down Screaming our names and nodding their heads to the music that isn’t playing yet. Then all of a sudden out of the blue a guitar strums a chord and the fans scream louder in anticipation.

This is what you live for. You and your band. You live for this moment, when the stress and problems of life disappear into the screaming of your voice and your music. The guitar behind you begins with its guitar solo and the drum soon joins him and you begin to nod your head. Then out of nowhere the lights’ shoot on, different colors swinging to and fro covering you in a broad blast of neon. Then all eyes are on you. You take a deep breath and play your guitar the sounds of the instrument echoing off the walls and people in front and behind you and then all of you are in harmony as you all play your instruments.

Then the microphone is calling out to you. You stare at it wanting to bask in the music for a while longer. You grab it and pull it from it the stand gently like it’s a precious thing you need to cherish. The words flow from your mouth as you scream into the microphone. The words you and your band wrote together. You just scream out words. You know exactly what your saying but does everyone else? This is life. The life of your band. The life of yourself. It’s just life itself.

Why would you want to settle down and have kids, live in a house, get jobs and miss out on all this? The screaming obscurities just kept going.

You walk on like a woman in suffering
Won't even bother now to tell me why
You come alone, letting all of us savor the moment
    Leaving me broken another time
You come on like a bloodstained hurricane
Leave me alone, let me be this time
You carry on like a holy man pushing redemption
I don't want to mention, the reason I know
That I am stricken and can't let you go
When the heart is cold, there's no hope, and we know
That I am crippled by all that you've done
Into the abyss will I run

The redhead on the drum set drumming like it’s either this or death. The black eyeliner that surrounds his bloodshot hazel eyes is the only thing, along with the clothes and way of life, that separates him from everyone else. In this world, It’s just him and his instruments.

You don't know what your power has done to me
I want to know if I'll heal insideI can't go on with a holocaust about to happen
    Seeing you laughing another time
You'll never know why your face has haunted me
My very soul has to bleed this time
Another hole in the wall of my inner defenses
Leaving me breathless, the reason I know

That I am stricken and can't let you go
When the heart is cold, there's no hope, and we know
That I am crippled by all that you've done
Into the abyss will I run

There is the Bassist playing with brains out, his eyes closed and his fingers hitting each note correctly as he nods his head and can’t help but to move around. He’s finally feeling the music. He is so graceful with his moves the way he holds the guitar, the way he moves to and fro aware of the chords that surrounding him.

Play guys play as you sing and play as well. Then the crowd goes silent as the two guitars, yours and his, goes back to back and begin playing a guitar duo that blends everything perfectly. Everything slows down and there’s just you and him playing your hearts out, spilling your hate love anger sadness and all other emotions into your music your hands moving so quickly over the strings its frightening. You’re in your own little world. The weight of his sweating body and your guitars seems like nothing compared to the weight of the music and adoration you have for him and he has for you.

Then almost reading each other minds everything just stopped and the world returned to normal. The cheering and shouting from the crowd wasn’t enough for you anymore. They wanted an encore, but you knew what you wanted. The band bowed and walked off stage leaving everything behind, leaving the instruments and things for everyone else to clean up.

You and the guitarist made your way to your room and closed the door. In a mere second he had you pinned to the wall and your mouths crashed on each other. The taste of rock and sweat mixing together to create your drug. After every gig, after every performance it was like this. Both of you high off of each other as clothes flew here and there. The bed was a haven right now and both of you collapsed onto it continuing a night of long hot and passion that lasted till the morning.

This is what you live for. This is what you and your band lived for. The rock, the cheering, the sex. This is life. Life. The band was called life. Wherever they went, they made everything possible, you could have sex with your brother and it would be okay. The band made everything okay. This is how life was lived. And they loved every second of it.
