• On the top floor of a large house, at the foot of a large four-poster bed, a small grey cat is curled nose-to-tail; it is watching over its peacefully slumbering mistress, protecting her from the terrors stalking the night. Moonlight streams through a gap in curtains covering wide, open windows, casting a soft glow over both girl and guard.

The cat’s charge continues to sleep until, still in the thrall of her dream, she begins to toss and turn, disturbing her miniature protector. It tries to stabilize itself, but is thrown to the ground by its mistresses’ movements. On the floor, the tiny feline tenses and shifts, hissing at the malevolent shadows lurking in the corners of the room. Gradually, the terrors retreat from its fury; the girl settles. The protector meows its triumph and vacates the room through the large window, its task completed - for tonight, at least.
