• It was almost twilight, the frightened orange sun floated down quickly to escape the shadows of spooky Halloween. Dazzling over-sized orange pumpkins with human heads bobbing out of them were running down the dim musty street that was slightly illuminated by the flickering light posts and the vivid display of everyone’s houses. I gazed absently through my large smeared window, pondering if I should ambush my friends, or if I should conceal myself within a daunting dark bush and jump out to startle the neighboring kids strolling by. I flashed a dark smile at the consideration. I, for one, thought it would be an excellent idea to do both. But I didn’t have a measly instant to accomplish that. I blinked to shatter my stare and twisted my head slightly to examine my untidy, cluttered room. What a dump…I turned my body around ineptly, struggling to get out of the muddled up midnight blue sheets and blankets. Oh great, my shiny midnight-black dark angel costume was bending like white hot metal. My feathery halo was already done for. Fortunately I was merely tangled there for four minutes. I hopped gently as if I was as light as a feather off the jungle like bed. My muscles were aching, my eyebrows were mashing into each other furiously, my mind sprinting around in my head despite all the quietness. And yet still, my stress was not over. I narrowed my eyes at the debris lying disordered on my fuzzy light brown floor. How unsightly. Remnants of rotten apples, gummies, trash, paper and, germy clothes scattered roughly across the grimy surface. I scowled at the filthy, littered interior area. Suddenly, I twitched my eye and wrinkled my nose, my nostrils flaring. A foul stench began robbing my desire to loiter in my now un-cozy bedroom, causing me to gag. This is undoubtedly not my preferred of all Halloweens.

“How dare ye lie on my property?” I hissed in repulsion at the mess that seemed more like the Amazon. I giggled at how I asked it but, it didn’t reply back. Just lovely. I’m talking to inanimate objects again. Not a good sign. I stormed around the room in a flash, dragging the grubby minute things to their rightful place. “Stay there.” I bellowed. Oh lord, I did it again. I sighed feebly, shuffling my feet out the open exit of my reticent forest. I nearly tripped along the way, alarmingly bending my shiny angel wing. Great, a dent. I felt a sin approaching.

You can not be serious…I could hear it. The licking and popping of fingers going in and out of someone’s mouth. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!? The sweet sweet scent that I’ve been craving for began to fade away. NO! I heard it again. Pop. Pop. Pop. I bolted through the empty hall way, and down my fuzzy delicate stairs. I heard someone sigh in relief, someone with a full stomach, causing me to run even faster. I slid across the floor in my slippery pale socks, almost breaking into a crash landing onto the rigid floor tile. I stopped all of a sudden in the toasty kitchen of my house. My eyes narrowed angrily. My brother was launching the last piece of pumpkin pie into his mouth. Literally. He made a booming noise like the ones from a rocket ship blasting off. Then he started shaking the piece of pie and started yelling, “Oh no! A black hole is going to suck us in! Eject. EJECT!” This is definitely not a way to careen that lovely piece of pie.

“TAKE YOU’RE GRUBBY HANDS OFF IT, DIMWIT.” I yelled in frustration. Too late. He stuffed it in his tiny mouth, not noticing my command. I scowled in irritation. Stupid little brothers.. “I’M GOING TO KILL YOU!!” I screeched. Finally, he turned his head reluctantly.
“And what if I tell mom?” He asked.
“You won’t live long enough to tell your little tale.” I scowled. He just looked at me like I just took drugs. “Who are you staring at?”
“Mom.” he whispered. I turned my head slowly around my shaking body, scared of what I’ll see. There she was, tapping her foot, her disapproving expression, her wooden time-out spoon shuddering violently in her hand. That’s not a good sign. No it’s a worse-than-horrible sign. Uh-oh. To think I was threatening my brother. She’s going to murder me for harassing her favorite child out of the four children. Great.
“What are you doing?” she frowned. I looked side to side nervously, trying to figure out a way to get myself out of this one. “Errr… you know. Just hanging out with my little bro.” I said casually. “Why? Did my hissing alarm you? We’re just playing around right, Ben?” I said, swiveling my head around to look at him, giving him the tell-her-the-right-thing-or-else expression. He quickly understood.
“Yeah, we’re just playing around.” He replied nervously as he trembled in his seat. I nodded approvingly and turned back to my mother. She wasn’t convinced. My half-smile that appeared a second ago faded away.
“Oh please you little liar.” She scoffed threateningly. She looked at me. “You’re grounded for the rest of the week. Computer use only for homework and you can only watch the news on T.V.” She smiled pleasantly at Ben. “Go on and do your homework. You’ll make mommy happy.” This is so unfair. I hate it when she does that.
“Well anyways, I’ll be heading off now.” I said wryly, leaning towards the door. My biased mother just nodded hesitantly and turned to talk to my brother.
I was out of the house in seconds. It seemed I was busy at the moment though. Running to my friend’s house, trying to fix my messed up halo, my shoes untied, my lips dry, my heart beating in a strange tempo. Ba-bump, ba-ba-ba-bump, ba-bump, ba-ba-bump my heart thudded quietly. That’s just creepy. My heart speeded faster and faster as I increased my pace to sprinting.
