• In the moonlit atmosphere, the evil miasma lurked, I carefully watched the cloud glide across to our settlement, from that horrifying forest which sat next to it. It was fire, it was burning the forest down with its fiery reds and oranges, the mighty inferno swept from corner to corner across the woods taking everything it touched and turning it to cinders. This picture was so horrifying, so shocking and, so astonishing, it seemed all so unreal, however it was all realistic, the forest which had stood for centuries, is at this moment, reduced to ruins.
Shrieks for help were herd from the far distance, “Our town!” they screamed at deafening levels, as he immediately caught fire and, “Our beautiful town is going to be but a pile of rubble!” I watched hopelessly horrified, as the little camp that we loved and called home, started to ignite like a bomb, and flaming bodies raced each other down to the nearby stream. We, the people of this fair land, knew that the settlement that we spent years to construct, was no longer the peaceful little town where farmers could go to sell their harvest from the nearby fields, and travelers could stay and rest their weary feet after their long journeys and told tales about their travels across the grassy landscapes.
As I watched our village burn away to mere ashes and soot, the tears that I tried to withhold busted through me and quickly fell to the moist grassy earth, for my family, I knew were sleeping among the ashes forever with the town. None of those who entered the town today, ever made it out as a mortal, but as a hollow shell, a mere ghost of their former image, who will be trapped roaming this earth with no purpose left to accomplish. The forest will too, be left in ashes, but the souls of the woodland creatures may have escaped this tragic event, for they knew it was hopeless to stay with the flaming trees.
After the town was gone with the woods, I came to realize it begun to sprinkle, with the tears of all the souls that were claimed by the inferno, slowly I fell to the earth for I had no strength to even remember the tragedies that occurred in the past few hours, of pain and death. But I must remain strong, for it would be what my sleeping family would want, I must remain the soul survivor that would one day tell the people in other villages my tale, for now I am a traveler, resting my weary feet and telling the tale of the day our town was turned to cinders. This story I tell, may be a book someday, some people may like the story I tell, for many have already enjoyed it, and there will be many more to come.
