• Karena was, as always, in a hurry. She'd overslept, again, and was running far too late. But, no one expected anything else from Karena. The girl was still adjusting the ribbon on her uniform top as she dashed out the door. Of course, being in such a hurry never did anyone any good. Especially not Karena. The scatterbrained girl tripped over a tree root, and her things went tumbling. She bent down to pick it up, and was nearly tripped over by some boy wearing a middle school uniform. She looked up. "Hey, could ya watch where you're walking?" she growled irritably. The boy scowled at her. "Well if you weren't blocking the road I wouldn't have tripped!" he snapped back. Karena looked up at this irritating boy. He was tall, with dark indigo hair and almost black brown eyes. He had a stern expression and narrowed eyes. His dark brows were furrowed in irritation. Karena packed up all of her things, and stood up. "Ugh. I don't have time for this." she snarled, and shoved past the boy, glaring at him as she passed. Her sapphire eyes were narrowed angrily. Yes, for Karena. Meeting that boy was hate at first sight.
"What gives him the right? Who does he think he is?" Karena asked her friend Moni at lunch that day. Her short, blonde-haired friend giggled musically. "Karena, you're still angry about that?" she asked skeptically. Karena nodded, glaring at her peanut butter and banana sandwich. "Absolutely." she said. She grabbed the sandwich and took a hard angry bite, causing some of her chestnut brown hair to fall into her eyes. Moni laughed again. "Karena, don't you think it's a little strange to be so angry over some boy you'll probably never see again?" she asked. Karena sighed, showing a classic "I hate it when she's right" expression. "I guess..." then she trailed off. Her eyes tightened and she looked down. "Never gonna see him again huh?" she grumbled. Moni looked up. "Oh! That's him? That's Kai. He's cute." she commented. Karena looked up at her friend incredulously. "You think that idiot is cute?" she asked. "He's a jerk!" she added. Moni shrugged. "Perhaps you were blinded by morning grogginess. Look again." she said with a grin. Karena rolled her eyes, but did as she was told.
At first, she didn't even recognize him. "What the~?" she breathed. It was the same boy, but... completely different. His angry expression was light and care free. It transformed him. Karena looked down at her sandwhich. "I really hate it when you're right." she grumbled. Moni laughed yet again. "I know! she said cutely.
Much to Karena's dismay, Kai was in all of her afternoon classes. She thought she'd go insane! Then, in her last class of the day, which was biology, Kai was seated in the only lab table with an empty spot: Right next to her. Kerena rolled her eyes, and looked down at her journal. Kai smirked. "Oh look. It's Capitan Clumsy." he said. Karena rolled her eyes. "Excuse me, but I just dropped my books. You're the one who tripped." she pointed out. Kai's smirk became a scowl. "Well who asked you anyway?" he asked irritably, then took his seat.
That day after school, Karena made her way to dance class. Remarkably, that studio and the stage were the only two places she wasn't clumsy. She was smiling despite her irritating encounter with Kai. She walked into the dance studio, and everything was going great! She even got to lead the class on their latest routine. But, of course, Kai had to come and ruin everything. She didn't see the irritating boy watching with an amused smirk from the window.
The next morning, Kai met Karena at her locker. She opened her locker as if he wasn't there. "What do you want Kai?" she asked flatly. "Nothing dancer girl. I just thought I'd get you to show me some of your moves!" he teased, jokingly attempting a ballet twirl. "You looked so pretty." he added. Karena glared at Kai. "You jerk!" she exclaimed, and shoved her books against Kai's chest, sending him stumbling backwards. He fell back, and dropped his athletic bag, spilling a basketball uniform onto the floor. Karena laughed loudly. "So you're the basketball guy?" she asked, laughing. Kai smirked. "You bet." he said. Karena rolled her eyes, and walked off to her next class.
