• We see Donald and Daisy again and again every year, but what will happen to them this year when they take their ducklings to a pond? Daisy is bright yellow and brown and Donald is brown around his body and green on his head and neck. Their feathers are soft, kind of like a newborn puppy's fur. They laid there eggs here at North Country Elementary School. They are very worried about their newborn ducklings taking their first trip.

One day Donald, Daisy, and their ducklings were going for a walk to a pond, but they had to walk through tall grass before they would be there. A duckling got tangled by a piece of long, tall grass and the other ducklings stopped to help, while Donald and Daisy kept waddling away. When the ducklings were finished, they had just figured out that they had taken too long!

Donald and Daisy were still walking, when they happened to notice a cat sleeping. They tried to protect their ducklings and figured out that they had left the ducklings behind! Donald and Daisy waddled backwards quietly but then Daisy tripped on a stick. The cat awoke and they soon figured out that it was Tiger, an old friend of theirs. Tiger smelled out the ducklings for Donald and Daisy. Donald, Daisy, and Tiger found the ducklings before they were hurt. As a "thank you" gift, Donald and Daisy caught five fish for Tiger.

We may see Donald and Daisy again someday, but we'll never know. They could be hunted down and killed while migrating or they might get stunned so hard that their heart stops beating and they die. We'll never know, at least not until they come back next year. Donald, Daisy, and the ducklings survived the walk to the pond, or did they? But what will happen next? Find out next time on Donald and Daisy (cont.)...
