• Casey sighed. It had been an unlucky day for him. He had forgotten about an important club meeting, where his friend Brad was announcing something that would effect the whole club. The club was a small one compared to the others that he knew of, just seven members. It was based on finding abnormalities in random things.
One member would bring in a subject that they would search through to locate abnormalities, then three members would list them, and report their findings to the leader, Sam. It had been Brad’s turn to bring in something, but instead he had news. He had said that he would be moving to Florida for the year so someone had to take his place as vice-leader. Casey wasn’t there to hear the news, so when he came in, almost everyone was working at triple speed to get Brad’s place for the year. He asked Sam when he came in the door why everyone was rushing to get their jobs done. But Sam was too busy helping everyone to notice him.
When Casey sat down at his seat and started to crack down at the abnormalities, when he noticed that his partners were already done with it. Then he went back to Sam to ask him why everyone was already done with their work.
“Brad announced that that he’s moving away for the year, so everyone’s competing to get his place.” Sam had said.
Still dazed, Casey asked, “Why is he moving away?
“I don’t know.” Sam had replied.
When the week came to an end, Brad announced who was going to take his spot. Casey could see that almost everyone had their fingers crossed.
“It’s been hard to decide who will take my place, but I’m sure you’ll all agree with me. My replacement will be……………………Casey!” Brad had said. All the members who wanted the spot cursed under their breath. Brad had said that Casey had stayed calm when they were working so he deserved the spot most.
