    Part 1:
When the Devil Stole the Moon's Heart

    Chapter 1

    tab Boredom...
tab That's what I was feeling, complete boredom.
tab Another school year began and nothing had changed. I sighed. Why did I even bother? I've already graduated over a hundred times! Not at the same school of course, people would get suspicious. But then again, what would I do if I didn't have to go to school? How would I spend my free time? I've already seen all seven wonders, traveled the world, been to every museum in every city, read thousands of books in every language, I've seen all there is to see and done all there is to do! I guessed that that was why I was there. Still, that didn't change the fact that I was getting tired of this human routine. A small glance towards the opposite end of the room showed me that Emmett was feeling the same way.
tab Emmett Gaffney was my best friend, but only by default, since I had no other friends to claim the title. I didn't really want any other friends, either, since they would only be temporary, no matter what.
tab "Hey." I heard someone call, probably to a friend that they haven't seen all summer.
tab "Hello?" the person called again. I continued to look down at my desk.
tab "Dude, I'm talking to you! Look up!" It took me a few seconds to realize that this person was talking to me. I looked up and waited patiently for this person to say what they wanted to say.
tab "Finally, a reaction!" she exclaimed. I didn't recognize her and concluded that she must be a new student. She had short hair that was, of all the colors, dark purple. Her eyes were the same color with a small hint of red. She was smiling at me sarcastically. I just stared back at her and waited for her to get to the point.
tab "You're Charlie Hopewell, right?" she asked, still smirking. I sighed. People were still talking about us, idolizing us, kind of like their ancestors did thousands of years ago, when people still worshiped the Sun god and the Moon god. Except this was a different kind of idolization, one where we were asked out almost every single day by at least three different girls (and sometimes guys, that's always awkward). We always turned them down.
tab "It's possible." I mumbled. I was hoping that she would just go away, but I had a feeling that that wasn't going to happen. I was right.
tab "Are you doing anything Friday?" she asked. She looked confident.
tab "No." I replied. I wasn't planning on doing anything Friday, and I wasn't planning on making plans for Friday.
tab "So do you want to do something Friday? Maybe we could go to the movies or something." She looked even more confident. She put a chair next to my desk and sat down. I sighed. It was too bad that I was going to have to destroy her confidence.
tab "No." I said promptly. I looked up, expecting to see her suprised and embarassed. But what I saw let me suprised, instead. The fact that she was just turned down didn't seem to even scratch her confidence. In fact, she was laughing. It was as if she didn't even care.
tab "Oh well. I kind of had a feeling you'd say that." she said, still smiling. She extended her hand. "By the way, my name's Alexa LaGuarda."
tab I just stared at her hand, hoping that it would make her uncomfortable and she would leave. Unfortunately, this girl, Alexa, seemed to be going against my predictions and didn't move an inch.
tab "I'm not leaving until you shake my hand." she said, smirking. I continued to stare at her hand and she just laughed.
tab "Class is going to start soon," I said. "You'd better get to your seat."
tab "Nope." she replied promptly. "I'm not going anywhere." I sighed and continued to read a book until class started. She didn't move an inch, didn't seem to feel uncomfortable or awkward at all. She just sat there, smiling and waiting.
tab Finally, the teacher came in. "Alexa," she said, "I'm going to have to ask you to go to your seat."
tab Alexa sighed. "All right." she said. She turned to me. "You win this round, Charlie, but I'll be back. I don't give up easily."
tab Neither do I. I thought to myself. She went to her seat, still smiling (I don't think anything can make her upset), and class began.
