• A thunderclap echoes loudly in the forest as lightning illuminates the dark sky. It is day, but the rolling clouds of a summer storm block out the sun, turning day to night. Rain pours down heavily, making it near impossible to see in this false night. The trees, being three yards apart, are tall and strong from the times of age; but provide little protection from the torrential downpour. All the creatures in the forest had hidden away for the storm to pass save for one lone wolf.

This lost wolf trudged on through the thick mud and looked in different directions every few steps. He was wearing a pair of blue jeans and white shirt, but was soaked and spattered in mud. His grey fur, that isn’t covered by the clothes, would have been nice and shiny. Now it is just soaking wet, form dark clumps instead of a shiny bundle. With his arms crossed, he continued on.

“This is hopeless. I can’t even see past a tree. Might as well wait the storm out.” said Wolf. As he turned to his left to sit under the nearest tree, he saw a small light off in the distance. Thinking it was just a trick of the eye, he took a few steps forward to find it got brighter. “There is someone over there. Now I can get directions out of this storm.” thought Wolf. He began to run a brisk pace, getting dirtier with every step from the mud.

After a few seconds of his dash, Wolf entered a clearing and stopped suddenly as he was struck with awe. Before him was a large mansion, two floors high. Inside there were probably many lights on, for Wolf could see the details of the outside clearly. There was a grass like green color for the paint on wall. Eight small, rectangle windows were shining light though each one, four on the left and four for the right. In the middle was a black marble staircase of three steps that had been polished and rounded with great experience. These steps lead up to a large red door with golden handles larger than the size of a pineapple.

Wolf began to walk up to the door slowly. He was so focused on the house, that he hadn’t noticed the rain had stopped and light was breaking though the clouds. His first step on the staircase showed that it was cold and sent a shiver down his spine. At the top of the staircase, he looked around with curiosity wondering why he had never heard of this place from other furs. The door must have been very thick, because it was a quiet sound that came when Wolf banged on the door. “What, what, what do you want?” came a grumpy voice from inside the house. A long creak was heard as the door swung open to reveal who had called earlier.

In the doorway stood a human with an annoyed look on his face, as if he had been woken from a nap. He was wearing a black shirt as dark as charcoal and brown pants that look new for there where now signs of wrinkles. A broad chest stood out along with some muscles, as if this human were in top shape. The hair, on his head was shorter than an inch. The eyes he had were blue, but they had something menacing about them. It was as if there was evil floating in them.

“Excuse me sir, but would you tell me which direction I may find the city of Corneria?” said Wolf calmly. The human just stood there examining him as if he had been shown something new and interesting. “Hold on a second and don’t go anywhere.” replied the human as he turned and went back inside. Wolf, happy that he was finally getting directions, got a big grin on his face. He looked around to take in his surroundings and enjoying the calm. When he came back, the human had a shotgun in his hands, aimed right at him. The color drained from Wolf’s face as realized what was happening. This human wanted to hunt him.
