• Chapter 1
    So Familiar
I could feel the cool air and sand on my skin
and hear the ocean as it hit the shore. A place that seemed so familiar. And yet I had no clue where I was. The only thing that I could remember, was that pair of dark, cold, red eyes staring at me. Everything was black. I couldn’t remember why I was here or how I got here or where here was. I couldn’t remember anything. About twenty minuets had past since I fully gained consciousness. I tried to open my eyes, it hurt a little at first, but they finally opened all the way. I realized that I was on a beach that was empty. No sound, movement or body was there except for me, myself, and I. I tried to sit up, but my body was sore, so I just lay there for a few more minuets, until the darkness returned and it all went blank. But I do remember a voice. A boy’s voice, around ten or eleven, saying something that I couldn’t quite make out. Then I had a dream, more like a vision of something. Water. Water rushing every where. And a little sparkly red shoe that was floating in it. A little girl fell in the water trying to get it. I couldn’t really see her face that well, but she appeared to be either five or six. She tried to call out for help, but the water was getting into her mouth and she could not spaek. Than I heard a beeping noise and realized that I was back to reality. I strained to open my eyes and saw a face of a lady probably in her early twenties.
She was an average sized woman wearing a white over coat, black pants and a black , plain shirt with pockets at the bottom. Almost like the kind nurses wore.
“How are you feeling?” she asked me. I tried to talk, but no words came out.
“Oh, don’t worry, you’ve just strained your vocal cords a little, but you’ll be able to talk again in no time. Just get your rest for now.”
She walked over to the counter. As I looked around, I realized that I was in, what looked like an old hospital room. And again, I felt as though I’ve been here before, but I just couldn’t remember. She had a wet towel and replaced the one I had on my forehead with the one in her hand.
“So, what were you doing out there all by yourself, and where did Eistain run off to? Fay was worried sick!”
I gave her a very confused look. I had no clue what she was talking about. Then there was a knock on the door. “come in.” she said. Just then a little girl and boy, about ten, came rushing in. “Sonya!” cried the kids, happily. But they stayed in place and just stood there and smiled.
Then a freakishly pale man around twenty with short, brown hair, wearing a dressy light blue shirt with horizontal strips and black pants walked in. He looked immortal and perfect.
“How is she, Ester?” He asked.
“She has a couple cuts and bruises and a pretty good bump on her head. And She doesn’t seem to remember anything.” She replied in a professional sounding voice. It was true that I didn’t remember anything, but I could remember bits and pieces of things. Like the basic need-to-know-basics. And I think I might have been seventeen or eighteen.
I could see a dark figure in the background. ‘’Come on in and say hello. Don’t be shy.’’ Said the man. Just then a tall dark boy, around sixteen, came in and gave me a cold hard glare.
I was so confused and scared, that I couldn’t even talk! I was feeling very uncomfortable, because everyone was staring at me exept for the guy that, apparently didn’t like me. He looked like he was pouting. They all just stood there so gracefully. I started coughing and I started to realize how bad I felt. Just then, like the speed of light the man in blue was right next to me and asked me if I was okay, and he handed me some red liquedy stuff and told me to drink it. I took a sip and surprisingly it tasted really good so I drank the hole thing and put it down on the stand next to the bed. ‘’Now how are you feeling ?’’ he asked gently, as if it was only the two of us. I could feel my face getting warm. I nodded yes and he smiled. I looked over and the mad looking boy was gone.
Then the man in blue was really close to my face, looking me in the eye and said to me, almost in a whisper ‘’what happened?’’ I looked at him and he could tell I had no idea what he was talking about. ‘’Do you remember anything ?’’ he tryed again. Finaly words came out and I told him that I remembered nothing. He stared into my eyes for a while, then looked around at everyone else. He smiled and said ‘’Well I suppose we should start with your name. Its Sonya Fai Sarronen. My name is Darren Skrol Densyl. That woman over there that bandaged you up, is Esterleen Kirel Fryer.

‘’These two are twins,’’ he paused and made a hand geusture tword the little girl and boy, still standing there, like statues.
‘’The girl’s name is Faylee Rai Ghostun and the boy’s name is Torren Sai Ghostun. The upset looking brat that, apparently
didn’t want to stick around, is Demetery Raisan.’’
They all have such weird names. I thought to myself.
‘’Ester, do you think she is well enough to walk yet ?’’ He asked.
‘’I guess, but try not to be too hard on her,k ?’’
‘’Yes ma’ma.’’ He smiled and then turned to me.
‘’Come on,’’ he said ‘’lets take a little walk.’’ He helped me out of the hospital bed and handed me a black shirt that said ‘ Bleeding Love’ and had a heart that was bleeding above the words and plain, dark blue pants. He , then led me out of the room and down a narrow, dark, creepy hallway. The lighting was very dim and looked kind of green-ish. I was sort of freaked out. There were no other doors besides the one we came out of. The walls here dark blue and the hall seemed to go on forever. Then I saw a big, glass door strait ahead. Darren kept looking strait forward and never said a word. It looked like he wasn’t even breathing. When we got to the door, he opened it for me and said ‘’After you.’’ So I walked through the doors and he followed right behind me. I stopped. The next room was so beautiful. It had red curtains and dark purple walls. The floor was a dark wood floor. It kind of looked like the inside of one of those really cool, sophisticated, goth mansions. Everything was so perfect. There were side stands, with black and red lights on them and some had
black vases, with diamonds all around them. There were old pictures all in their own perfect little rows. And again everything looked so familiar. There was a winding stair case on the far left. And, like mostly every thing else in this place, it was black. He lead me to a plain black door and opened it. ‘’You can change in here.’’ He said.
‘’Thanks.’’ I managed to get at least those words out, even if they were a bit crackly and hard to under stand.’’
I walked into the room. It looked like the the room we had just been in, except it had a screen thing in it. You know like the ones that you change behind. I heard the door close behind me and the lights suddenly came on. I was very surprised at how bright it was. I looked down and realized that I was wearing a tattered, old, worn out, dirty, dark purple sun dress. It had holes and rough edges at the bottom. I looked in the mirror at my rough, long, brown hair that needed brushed. Badly. Luckily there was an old fashioned black brush on one of the side tables. So I quickly brushed out the knots as best I could, got dressed and took the old sun dress out the door.
To my surprise I saw Darren standing there, waiting for me.
‘’Are you ready ?’’ He asked. I nodded, even though I wasn’t ready and was very confused. He took me back down the hall and to a sliding door. He opened it and I could not believe my eyes. It was beautiful. There were flowers every where as if making a path to welcome us. They all looked so natural and alive, like a dream, only this was real. ‘’This used to be your favorite place to go when you were troubled or sad or had a bad day.’’ He said, still looking dead ahead. I was so mezmerized by its beauty that I didn’t even notice that he was going further on without me, so I had to run and catch up and I was unbelivibly fast. My heart and my breath finaly cought up with me and I didn’t feel tired or anything.
‘’Beautiful is it not ?’’ he said in a gentle soft voice.... heart
