• [Throne of Demensia--Part 4
    by Nightkat89

From where I last left off, Jade has just came to realize who she was sassing with her quick wit and somewhat impolite remarks, Orik, the Prince of Demensia.

"The sun rose early in the sky, just to annoy me" Orik thought to himself, as he tried covering his sleep filled eyes with part of the worn canvas that now doubles as a blanket. He slowly pushed himself off the ground and stood up to greet the new day. Stretching and yawning, the usual routine, he managed to disturb Jade in her sleep.

She was strewn out in some odd position with one arm behind her back, and her legs bent at a weird angle. Orik couldn't help himself, and chuckled. Jade slightly moved about again. "She apparently is a light sleeper" Orik though to himself. He tiptoed over to where his supplies where bundled by Yira and snatched his bow and quiver. Orik silently left camp and began to enjoy the morning light on his way out of camp.

Snow crunched underneath Oriks heavy plated boots as be trekked a good distance from camp in hopes of curing the emptiness in his stomach. Somehow he managed to find a small burrow that reminded him of the ground hogs Demensia had. "Lets see what I can "encourage" to come out... " Orik pulled out a small piece of hide and knotted a feather from one of his arrows onto the end. He attempted to "fish" for groundhogs, if that is what they were.

Something eventually pulled on the end of the hide, and Orik gave it a small tug, gradually leading the mysterious culprit out and into the open. Soon enough, Orik saw what appeared to be a black and white cat. The creature turned its tail to him. "Skunk!" Orik yelled, as he pulled his face away just in time to narrowly evade the stream of the noxious fumes that came out of the burrow.

    Jade woke up immediately.

Alert and looking around with her dagger drawn, she noticed Orik off in the distance who appeared to be rolling on the ground. She giggled. Not only giggled, but broke up laughing and rolling on the ground. Thinking this hulking man, who seemed to be a warrior who feared little, was crawling away from a skunk that arose from its burrow.

"Way to go PRINCE" Jade yelled toward Orik, who was a distance away. Orik immediately pushed himself off the ground and stood tall, redeeming as much masculinity as he could.
"Better than what you could do!" Orik challenged.

Jade, frustrated by his last comment, jogged over to where Orik was, and the skunk was sitting there, confused. "Come here little fella!" Jade said very friendly. The skunk turned its head in the direction that Jade stood and walked right into Jade's opened arms. "Quite the animal charmer huh?" Orik said slightly dumbfounded.

"Everyone has their soft sides, mine happens to be nature and animals." Jade said.
