[Chapter 3]
I see his body covered in blood. His arms- separated from his body and his fingers separated from his arms. I know I did it too. But thats not what I was worried about. I breathed hard and rampant in confusion, because on the other end of this curse; this cell phone... was him.
"What's the matter son? You hard of hearin'? I barely been gone a day and you already forgettin' me! Let me give you a hint. I'm tall... handsome... and my blood is on your hands-"
"How are you doing this?" I interrupted, but still speaking monotonously.
"Listen. I'mma tell it to you high and dry. I'm just a figment of your little tiny imagination. You're crazy. And the only way to have your silly brain cope with you killin' me, is by thinkin' I'm still alive in your dohickey cellular whatchamacallit! So basically I'm not here. This is just your imagination!" Armani Bloodbath's words echoed into my head, until it was replaced with a double beep. It was a call waiting and I picked it up.
"Hello?"
"How are you?" This person again. "Do you know who I am?"
"I'm not sure" I spoke. I didn't mean to say it, but I did.
"Can you hear me?" His voice wasn't that of Armani's. But still familiar.
"Yes." And as I said that, the buzzing seemed to appear out of nowhere.
"Good. We can start." The buzzing started to deafen me, but I could still hear the voice.
Tonight is most definitely the night. Tonight is the night you die, unless you listen closely. Are you listening?"
"Yes." The usual response
"San Antigua. Pick up the body, settle your friend. Do you understand?"
"Yes."
"I know you don't, so listen for the song. Its a favorite among things."
"Yes."
"I'd wish you luck, but we don't believe in that. So just stay alive. For us, okay?" And then he hung up.
Pick up the body and settle my friend? What the hell does he mean by that. The body has to be Mr. Bloodbath's, but what does he mean to settle it? The buzzing is still apparent so I might as well follow it. The black skies that are adjacent to the sound always direct me to the right spot.
"Are you still there, friend?" The almost thick accent cut through my thoughts like a rusty knife into a rock.
"What?" I monotoned.
"You put me on hold for a very long time! I didn't like that!" He shot back
"I thought you were just in my head? Besides- you're dead. You've got all the time in the world" Did I just make a joke?
"Ha ha ha." He gave a sarcastic laugh "Do you want to go to the next location or not?" His tone was now serious. I stayed silent. "Thats what I thought. Anyways, its the church on Old main street, about 10 minutes from here. Think about it. There's a cemetery there. You can bury my hunk-a-junk body there. Though I don't think no android deserves to be buried. Just left to rot." His words made sense.
Favorite among things. Another angel. Where else would have an angel and a cemetery? Only a church. If he was just all in my head then he wouldn't mind me not saying thank you when I hung up the phone. I took one good look at his body and noticed the intricate metalwork that sprawled across. His eyes were glazed over and his mouth was still open, but his tongue had dried. He looked shocked as the now-dried blood leaked from his nose and eyes, as if he were crying. I wasn't going to drag a body around with me. It would be such a burden. I did, however take his guns, the two twin pistols that he so carefully held. They seemed to be in working condition, but he only had the bullets in the chamber. Inscribed on both sides were the words "When the dog bites".
Then I heard it. The phone rang again. I knew it had to be him.
"You think you can just hang up on me and then take my guns? You're lucky that takin' my guns means that I'mma be able to talk to you as much as I want!" He chuckled
"...what do you mean?" The question fell out.
"I mean- that since you have a memory of lil' ol' me attached to the guns, every time you even think of cockin' the feller's, I can contact you on your silly little phone! Its good to have a crazy man!" And with those words, I left.
The black skies pointed directly to the church. A couple turns and a half hour later and I was there. The church creaked and moaned through the wind as the ominous looming black skies dissipated. It reached to the heavens, so to speak, with a cross at that top, which had to be at least 7 feet high. A stained glass mural was the only window intact and it sat in the middle of the churches face. As I stepped up to the plate; its mouth opened and I swear the walkways began to bloom with flowers. I could feel something was coming up, but I didn't know what. I could see the front of the church; a huge broken chamber organ smiled at me, covering the whole northern wall. The church seemed groomed though, as opposed to the outside. I let one foot enter, and it lit up. What am I in for?
