• Galvun claims a Dragon

In the dragon hatchery, Galvun waited impatiently. He journeyed here to claim a monster of his own, a vicious young hatchling with a deep crimson scaly hide and a black stripe down its back. As he approached, it growled and revealed its razor-sharp amber teeth. Casually Galvun haggled with the breeder, an elderly man, but in the end he bought it for a reasonable price. He’d already given the young hatchling a name: Rayith.
The dragon awoke to find itself in a dark cold room. The floor and ceiling were built of stone; the walls constructed from steel. Lonely and frightened, Rayith began bashing the walls and gliding in circles, trying to escape. Scared, it let out its loudest roar, and attempted to knock down the roof when it stopped because of a noise from outside.
Galvun opened the steel door cautiously; afraid the dragon might turn its rage on him. When he discovered that the giant lizard abruptly quieted, he opened a large door built in the wall and led the animal outside. Feeling alive and free, Rayith leaped into the air and began soaring around. It quickly noticed a pile of meat left by its door, and, starved, promptly devoured the heap. Galvun smiled. He could now become a Dragon Rider, his lifelong dream.
