• I stepped back a bit, not knowing what to expect.
    The Shadow sped to the door and opened it as soon as he got there. Immediatley, a prissy, girly, peppy kind of girl walked in.
    'Wow. You actually have a vistor? When was the last time you got a human, like 5 years ago? Turn into human form, you. You look so dangerous when you're a Shadow.' she said. She gripped my arm and pulled me down next to her on the black floor. All of a sudden, the black room turned into a warm living room with cool colors. I was sitting on a soft couch.
    'Oh, it's Jay's home. Its so colorful, unlike him,'
    I looked around. Where was he? The girl looked up. 'Oh, haha, he's probably in his room. He's gonna be a little hidden before he shows you himself. By the way, my name is Lou. His ex? He probably told you ALOT about me, right? Yeahh, I know. I'm just so fabulous. Okay, so, if you've never seen Jay when he's a human, he looks really emo, but hey, he's not emo, he just looks like gothic slash emo ish. Anyways. Name?'
    I was so lost. She talked so much! 'My- my name? It's Serenity...'
    She gasped. 'Your name is gorgeous, JUST LIKE YOU! No wonder Jay likes you. You know, you probably dont notice, but he is EVERYWHERE you go. In human form on a wall listening to music, just watching you. Kind of stuff that gives you the chills.' I remembered seeing a person on the wall across my house, staring at me beneath his hood, iPod attached to his ears. Never leaving. Always staring. It all made sense. 'It happened to me before I got with him and that turned me into a Shadow. Actually, being a Shadow is soooo much fun. By the way, I can read your mind. just tell me if you dont want me to, I understand if it can be uncomfaay.'
    I frowned. I didnt like people in my thoughts. 'Please. I would appreciate it if you stayed out of my head.'
    She flipped her hair back. 'Wow, you have some edge in you. Just Jay's type. When did you meet? I wanna know everything!'
    I looked at her, open mouthed. 'We are NOT together. I just learned his name when you came in, too! I barely know him...'
    She made her eyes wide and looked at me. 'Hah! Is that so? Then why do you have a love icon in his heart, hmm, darling? Cant lie to me, babe. Cant lie to me.'
    I bit my lip. She was kind of annoying. 'Well, why do you have a spot in his heart?' I felt like I was pushing it, but I had nothing else to ask. She looked at me even closer.
    'No reason. I just think he's hot is all...' She looked at her nails and took out a nail file. 'He probably doesnt like me anymore at all, maybe im just too gorgeous and flawless. He needs something that screws up. Something like you.' She raised an eyebrow at me. 'A human.'
    I rolled my eyes. 'Whatever. I just want to go home already. Im hungry.'
    'Oh no WONDER you're so GRUMPYYY. You silly goose. Here. I'll make Jay get you somethin' sweet. JAY, SWEETY! GET YOUR BUTT DOWN HERE! SHOW YOUR TRUE SELF TO SERENITY AND GET HER SOME FOOD DOWN HERE, WILL YOU?' she yelled.

    I looked up, and I got my first look at the real Jay.
