Once Alice arrived at the Red Queen’s palace, she was immediately taken to the throne room. In the throne room, the queen made a deal with Alice. The Queen and Alice would play a game and if the Queen won, Alice would have to do whatever the Queen asked; if Alice won, then Alice would be free to leave with the White Rabbit. The chosen game was charades.

Once the game was chosen, the Queen sent the White Rabbit to announce to the kingdom that there was a game at the palace. Both the Mad Hatter and the Caterpillar arrived shortly after the announcement had been made.

The Red Queen appointed the Caterpillar as the referee of the contest. The referee declared that the players could choose their partners for the game from among those gathered. The Queen and Alice would both be the ones to guess what their partners were acting out. The best two of three guesses wins. The Queen chose the Ace of Diamonds while Alice chose the White Rabbit for their respective partners. Against all odds (and at great risk, if you recall the Queen’s temper), Alice and the White Rabbit won the game. For details on the game, see Page5 of sports.

After Alice won, she made an obvious public display of affection towards the White Rabbit, inciting serious whispering among the gathered spectators. The Mad Hatter, seeing the display, encountered a moment of extreme madness and began to attack the White Rabbit. The spat did serve to temper the Queen’s anger with amusement; however, the White Rabbit suffered considerable damage from the fight.

Eventually the Cheshire Cat stepped in and successfully used her claws to hook into the Hatter’s coat and toss him off of the rabbit before proceeding to lunge onto the Hatter’s stomach, successfully rendering him unconscious.

The Queen’s anger at having been beaten in the game came back full force at the sight of Alice trying to help the rabbit up. The Queen then demanded the death of the pair, inciting the Army of Cards to pursue the quickly fleeing couple. The Army of Cards was unsuccessful in capturing the pair before they made it through the rabbit hole together.
