• Chapter 14: Kill or be Killed

It was now around midnight, the moon had risen high up in the sky and so far the legions of those cursed beasts seemed to have no end. I gripped the handle of my pistol tightly, it was burning hot as a metal pipe after being left in the summer heat all day from being fired so often. Tonight was the worst night I had seen and I was beginning to grow weary from battle. The pale light of the moon illuminated the dark ally I was hiding in. I heard a low moaning from several different creatues, after a moment I finally realised what was going on. They were speaking to each other.

In their own twisted language they wer able to communicate. I griped my pistol tighter as one of them turned the corner, with a flash I drew it up to his forhead and at point blank range I fired, a single bullet was all it took for him to drop dead again. I then began to run for my life, the still silence of the night was startlin. I could tell by the smell behind, the sulferous smell of rotting flesh, that nausiating stentch of death, and decay, they were right behind me. I turned around and fired again, repeatedly, until my cartrige had run out of bullets, I then ran again, reloading my gun as I went.

It was quiet in the ally as I ran, that was the first thing I noticed, it was too quiet. I had a bad feeling in the pit of my stomach, there was something ahead of me, I was being hunted. A pair of glowing red eyes appeared close to the ground infront of me, it was accompanied by a low snarl. Then the hellhound walked out. It was very unusual, up til now they had hunted me in packs, this one was alone however, I couldnt help but wonder why. It growled at me menacingly with fresh blood dripping from its razor sharp teeth. It barked at me twice as it jumped at me, I dived to the side as far away from it as I could and fired my pistol. The bullet hit the hound in the gut and it fell to the ground dead.
