By the seventh day, I was totally use to everyone. Though Elise still has some occasional glances to find a reason to suspect me, but there was none.
Elise sighed. “Seriously, did u really just lose your memory?”
I could feel her suspicion rising in the tips of my fingers. I nodded. “I’m trying from time to time to try to remember. But I only get flashes,” hope she bought that, I thought.
“I know some medicine that might help you get some of your memories back,” Elise offered.
I thought about it. I don’t know. It’s really risky. “Are you good with medicine?” I asked in an attempt to change the subject or at least slide the topic to the side.
“Yep, I’m practically the best there is,” she said with enthusiasm, “but that’s all, that’s a reason why I’m here with Max and Jesse, to learn combat.”
Wow, the way she just changed subject amazes me. “You know, I just have a feeling, but I feel my strongest point is earth, or plants.” Let them know a little of me, so they won’t think of me as a stranger.
“This might be weird to bring up but, even though you can’t remember much of your past, I also have sorcery, and from the feeling I get from you, it feels like a lot of power.” Max said, apparently listening in.
I stayed silent waiting for more. But there came none. Note to self: Max is stronger than I expected, be on alert. I don’t know why, I do feel energy from Max, but not his power. He must be strong to hide his power.
“Maybe that’s a possibility on how you lost your memory.”Jesse said. I looked at him, hiding my feelings, but I could use this idea too, “using an overdose amount of sorcery then you can handle.”
I nodded at the idea.
“That idea does make sense,” Elise added.
I just sat there thinking this over. When I realized they were waiting for me to reply. I didn’t know what to say yet. “So what’s for dinner? I’m pretty hungry,” I smiled.
Tonight was my first, and I mean first meal that’s camped outside, no spices or kitchen stuff, or chefs running wild to get orders out. It smelled good, drifting all around. Will it attract animals? We were in the safety of the forest, but it didn’t feel safe.
“Will this attract animals?”I asked.
Jesse looked up from his food and smiled, “Let’s hope not.”
That made me uneasy, making me home-sick. But no way was I going back, there’s so much more to see out here in the world, so much more feelings and expressions to see and feel in people, and I intend to uncover everyone of it, though it might be impossible.
Going to sleep wasn’t easy, the dark surroundings, the eerie wind sent my senses tingling. I felt eyes on me. Am I going crazy? This was my first camp-out night, maybe that’s the reason. I took a deep breath and exhaled. Everyone else went to sleep, how could they be so careless? I took another deep breath and exhaled. I’m going nuts. Then I sat up leaning against a tree in the darkness. The moon shining above, but it’s not enough to light the place through the thick, tall trees. Sitting in the darkness is crazy; I don’t like staying in the open, in the dark.
