• BATTLE WORN - THE BEGINNING - 1/2

    YEAR - 2012

After 5 years since the Ever-Lasting War started, The Grand Army of England has made it through the border of America...

The Grand Army of England will lay siege to Florida; where the Renegades are preparing one final stand...

General Reece Cottam, Leader of the 61st Battlion, will lead the assault whilst training some new recruits under his command...

The sound of a artillery volley battering a solid brick wall could be heard from miles away; soldiers were shouting to reload the cannons.
A General with ginger hair, wearing mostly black, including his army boots and faded jacket, was overseeing the artillery strike; his face looked proudly as cannon after cannon fired its MK IV Shrapnel Shells into the so-far unbreakable wall. he walked away to inform his superiors that the task is running smoothly.

He was on his way when a Lieutenant appeared; he was sweating from the running he was doing earlier, he was holding some documents.

'My orders are to give these to you,' the Lieutenant saluted and went back to the artillery strike.
The General, looking a little curious, opened the documents; it reads:

    To General Reece Cottam

The mission is to bring down the wall from the outside, but we also need to send a squad to secure one of the main buildings inside the wall...
Hopefully; everything will be done within a week or so...

On a lighter note; we have some new soldiers coming in England; the new soldiers are already trained in survival and combat and will be in the 61st Battlion for the time being...

This is will allow the soldiers to get a taste of what it's like on the battlefield...

    Commander Sam Cox

The General sighed with relief; he's been wanting some soldiers to penetrate the defences for some time; but didn't have the man or firepower to do it. He walked towards the main hangar where two Colonels were speaking about the new troops and the mission...

Whilst all this was going on, a dark-black jet, (which was called the SkyHawk) landed on the large dirt runway. it started to slow down after 2 minutes and turned around so the left wing was looking towards the artillery emplacements. The SkyHawk's doors open, whilst a motorised stairway connected to the door. 15 soldiers stepped out of the jet; all of them looking nervous and a little shaken up. 14 of them had different hair and eye colour, but they were all wearing the same black jeans, black army boots and a white shirt. Some of them were wearing dark blue jackets with the English Coat of Arms. Yet there was one that was standing out. Instead of the dark blue uniform, He was wearing faded black jacket, which also had the English Coat of Arms, a white shirt, blue jeans and faded white trainers. This soldier had brown, slightly spiked up hair and pale blue eyes.

'So, whats your name?' asked one of the soldiers that went over to speak to him whilst they were waiting for their General. He had short, dark brown hair, brown eyes and a dark blue uniform.

'My name is Lee Davis, i'm 17 years old and i was a Sniper and Engineer for the 30th Regiment', replied Lee. He took a small, metal flask out of his pocket and took a swig at the contents.
'What's your name?' asked Lee politely.

'Oh, my name is Nick Freeman; i'm 18 and i was in the 21st Regiment, you might remember us better for blowing up the enemies main fort at Manchester a few months back', Nick said proudly, he had a bit of Irish in his voice.
Lee nodded, he recalls the memory because one of the Sergeants of the 30th Regiment was overseeing the assault; the Sergeant came back with a smile with his face, but his entire uniform was covered in soot and mud.
Before Lee could take another swig from his flask; A Captain wearing dark green clothes shouted 'General Reece Cottam will say a few words before we take you to your quarters!'
General Reece looked around at all the new recruits proudly.

'Do you see that wall?' he pointed at the wall that is still standing, despite being fired constantly by the artillery. 'Our cannons are chipping away at that wall every minute; but we need to send at least 12 people in to secure one of the main buildings'.
Lee and Nick seem to be the only soldiers that knew what to expect; the other soldiers were trying to hide their nerves.

Reece looked around the soldiers, trying to catch them out. He noticed that Lee wasn't wearing the same uniform as the others, he walked up to him and asked 'Whats your name, sir?'

'Lee Davis, i was a Sniper in the 30th Regiment', Lee said for the second time in one day.
Reece looked happy with the answers, he turned his attention to everyone else.
'Right, we'll show you to your sleeping quarters, after which you get something to eat, rest up a bit and change into a different uniform', Reece said. He told the Captain that was wearing the dark green clothes to take them to their quarters; they all followed the Captain.

The Captain told them to get inside an armoured bus; the bus was armoured so the enemies bullets could not dent it. Some of the soldiers were talking about their families, their jobs and the war so far.
One soldier asked 'Why can't we just bomb them from the sky?'
The Captain pointed his finger outside; the other soldiers looked to see a destroyed plane, which was still smoking. Apparently (according to the Captain) that they tried to send a plane to bomb the wall from the sky; but the enemy had 5 Anti-Aircraft Artillery and several tanks inside in the city, which destroyed the plane and killed 4 of its best soldiers.

After 30 minutes, the armoured bus stopped outside a very big hangar that was for resting and feeding soldiers; this is where the soldiers will be staying for a while.
The Captain told the soldiers to go inside in the hangar to rest and to catch up with the de-briefing.

Nick introduced Lee to Lewis and Andy, two of the soldiers who were wearing the same uniform as Nick. Lewis was a like Lee, except had green eyes, and light brown hair; whilst Andy had dark brown eyes, dark, brown hair. Surprisingly, both Lewis and Andy had their weapons; a MK II Assault Rifle. They were gifts from a Major after they both defended a base from a 12 man army.
Another Captain, who had dark brown hair and dark brown eyes and wearing dark red clothes , came inside the hangar and was carrying a box of guns. Lewis asked Lee who that captain was.

'Thats Captain Corey; apparently he's one of General Reece's Enforcers', Lee replied.

'LINE UP!!!' the Captain shouted. Everyone lined up whilst Captain Corey opened the box; he held up a simple battle rifle.
'This is your's and the enemies main choice of weapon; there have been many different types of assault, sniper and battle rifles', he said proudly. 'When i give you a box, go back to your bunks and wait for further orders.

Captain Corey started to hand out the boxs over the soldiers. When Captain Corey gave a box to Lee, he looked at him from his battle worn jacket to his faded white trainers.
'Why are you wearing these clothes when you could be wearing some new clothes?' asked Captain Corey.

'These were a gift from my Major in the 30th Regiment; i promised that i wouldn't take it off', Lee said politely.
At first, Captain Corey looked at if he was going to shout his head off; but after a couple of seconds, he started laughing.
'I like your honour, i will inform the 30th that we have met each other', said Captain Corey happily. He turned his attention to all the others.
'By the way, don't call me Captain, just call me Corey and when we rid Florida of the Renegades; i'll buy you all a drink!!', he said happily.
    The others laughed and cheered at soon as the sentence finished, Lee looked outside at the wall as it blocked the afternoon sun and muttered to himself;

'This war will be the making of us lot...'
