• The Dreamer

I have always been a dreamer, when I was little I had an invisible friend and she went everywhere with me. I did not fit in well in 5th grade because people thought it was weird to daydream and I was the “new kid” who was fun to tease and pick on. I have always been invisible; kind of like my invisible friend but people just tended to ignore me. Nothing was ever easy for me, and now I, Sophie Parker, had to survive 8th grade, with all the drama. With that I decided to stay out of my daydreams (for at least the first month) and try to get to know people.
The first day of school was pretty normal, I was ignored. By the second day of school, I met Noel. She was nice and actually noticed me. We hung out at lunch and she showed me who was who and who to stay away from. Turns out that the only thing keeping her from being friends with me was peer pressure and so this year she decided to get to know me. After a month of being friends we were inseparable.

About two months later I met Cody. She was cool and I could tell she would always be there for me. Noel and I sat with Cody and her five other friends: Mia, Annie, Karli, Julia and Amy. They too were nice and very outgoing. We soon became a big group of friends who hung out all the time.

I caught on quickly to who was going out with who; Mia & DJ, Cody & Jasper, Julia & Edward, Amy & Emmet, Annie & Toni, and Karli & Alex . Almost everyone had a boyfriend, except Noel and I. We didn’t care too much, boys were not really our priority, but we were still really excited for the upcoming dance, in four days.

The day of the dance, I went home with Noel. We wore jeans and cute shirts and did our hair and make up in an adorable way. We got to the dance and so many people greeted me! I was starting to really enjoy this! The night went great! I was asked to dance by one guy, Drew. He was nice and really cute. Noel told me that he was considered a quiet person but he hung out with the popular crowd. We danced twice and I developed my first crush. It had to have been the best night of my life and to make it even better, at the end of the night ,right before I left, he asked me out! I never realized that reality could be just as good as my dreams, all I had to do was try!

The next day I thought it was all a dream. I thought even my friends were from one of my dreams. But when I got to school, I was greeted by: Noel, Cody, Drew, Mia, and some other people from the class that suddenly recognized me. I was starting to love reality! I went from being invisible to being popular in three months! I even had a double date with Cody and Jasper tomorrow night!
About a month after our big double date was my birthday,February 7. I never had a birthday party so this year I was determined to have a big awesome party. Cody and I were planning the whole thing at my house. We were going to invite all of my friends which included:Cody, Noel, Amy, Mia, Julia, Annie, Karli, Drew, Jasper, Emmet, Toni, Alex, and Edward. Cody,Noel and I decorated the basement and planned the dinnner menu. My mom was allowing us to even eat in the basement since my birthday was in winter but we had to stay in the basement and not mess up the rest of the house.
After school, on the day of my party, Noel and Cody came home with me on the bus and helped me set everything else up. My neighbor, Morgan, also came over to help. Since Morgan and me share a birthday she invited some of her friends too. Everyone started arriving at 6:00 p.m. and the basement started to get full. We had pizza and cake and then played some games. After we played all the games, Morgan and I opened our gifts. One of my gifts was the movie "Marley and Me", so we decided to watch it. After the movie finished, the parents started arriving and soon the basement was empty. Noel,Cody and I cleaned the basement and crashed on the floor. It was the best birthday ever!
The next day I woke up and decided to call Cody and see if she was doing anyting that day. I picked up my cell phone and pressed speed dial three. To my complete surprise, it said that speed dial had not been set yet. I went through my contacts and none of my friends were in there! I ran down stairs and told my mom that my phone wasn't working. She looked at me like I was crazy and told me that I didn't have any friends named Cody or Noel. I couldn't figure out what was going on. I went up to my room and turned on my laptop. I checked my facebook account and saw that my mom was right. I still only had 10 friends and none of them had the name Cody or Noel and they were all my family members. Then reality hit me. I was still a nobody. I didn't have a boyfriend or a group of friends. The past four months were all in my head. Nothing really happened. It was all part of one of my crazy daydreams.
On Monday, I went back to reality. I noticed that all the people in my dream were really in my class, but to them I was still invisible. Now I saw everything I wanted, everyone in my dream was real but they were popular, and didn't like me. Even my "boyfriend" from my dream was there, but he wasn't my boyfriend, he was Courtney's boyfriend. I wanted her life so bad that in my dream, I was Courtney.
