• Violet hated moving. In the last year, she moved 4 times and each time, she never fit in. When her dad told her they were moving again, it was a mixed blessing. Though she would finally get away from her horrible school, she was to move out in the middle of nowhere. But she didn't mind it much. The house was to be big and spacious, as it was once a rich merchants mansion. And it was surrounded by forests, which Violet knew she would love.
Violet and her dad arrived at the mansion late in the evening. The setting sun's rays gave the old Victorian house an eerie look, as if would topple over any minute. Violet looked to the side of the house. She couldn't even see the far-end. I am going to get lost in this house, Violet thought.
"Here we are," said Violet's dad, Brain, cheerfully. Seeing Violet's look at the house, he add, "Don't look so down, you love it here. There will be no one to bother us."
    Violet wasn't so sure.
The first day went by quickly, as if it never came. Violet sat on her air futon and it let out a long sigh. Violet sighed with it. She had gotten a lovely room, with an alcove at the window so she could sit on the ancient cushions and look out to the forest that spread around her new house like water. She and her father didn't have time to unpack her stuff and Violet longed to dive into her box full of books. Her father promised her that there was a library somewhere in the house and she could add her books in there instead of piling them up on the floor like she did in their old, cramped apartment. She decided she would look for it tomorrow. Right now, she thought, I must sleep... Slowly, Violet slipped into unconsciousness, letting the world of dreams take over.
