• "Here you are," Warren said as he handed Clarrissa a brown cup with a white casing. They were sitting on a concrete slab extension on the Kosama University South Building's roof, down the street from the main campus. The sky was still gloomy gray, but the rain refused to fall. Warren and Clarissa sat on the rooftop drinking coffee and talking.
"Thank you," Clarissa responded, taking the beverage and sipping it. Warren turned away and sipped down his drink bottoms-up. After exhausting a breath and putting his cup down, he refaced Clarissa to see her gulping down her coffee with her head craned skyward, engulfed by the cup with both of her hands gripping it.
"Hey, take it easy," Warren said. "I can get you another one."
Clarissa managed to separate her mouth from her cup. "Sorry... I've never eaten or drank things from Earth. It's all so... tasty."
"Yeah, I bet it is," Warren said laughing. "So... how did you scare off Oshu this morning?"
Clarissa looked down and smiled a little. "Well... I don't wanna say."
"Come on, tell me," Warren said, nudging her with his left elbow. "I'll believe you this time."
Clarissa looked up at him and smiled softly. "Okay. Um... I waited until he looked into my eyes..."
    "Uh-huh..." Warren said slowly.
"...Then I peered into the part of his mind that programs emotion. When I found fear, I looked for his worst fear."
    "Then what?"
"I showed it to him. I made it seem real."
"Wow... what was his worst fear?"
    "A Japanese sea monster."
Warren thought and laughed. "Was its name Kappa?"
    "Yeah, I think it was."
    "Of course... heh."
Warren took another gulp of his coffee and sat there thinking. He was sitting on the roof of a two-story building with a girl with wings, and though he now believed that she was an angel, he still couldn't believe his luck. He'd figure that he'd be fully comfortable with having an angel around once he stopped being nervous around her. Clarissa felt elated being around Warren. When she didn't see fear or doubt in his eyes, she felt happy and couldn't help but smile.
"Warren," Clarissa said while turning to face him, "I'm glad you believe me now"
Warren faced her and said, "Yeah, well... I'm sorry that I didn't at first."
