• He began fiddling with the phone pressing random buttons and taking the battery cover off. I watched him with a bit of concealed amusement. When Zane pushed the talk button he dropped the phone and scrambled back. No longer able to stifle my laughter I broke out laughing.
"Ok look Zane, the numbers at the bottom can be entered as a code, and each phone has a different code. Understand?" Zane nodded his head I continued. "Well before you enter in these numbers you're supposed to press this large button in the middle, it's the button you pressed earlier, then you will be able to hear a ringing sound." I pressed the phone to the young boy's ear.
"Hello?" a response came through the phone. "Who's this!" the voice became angrier and angrier and the man just hung up.
"So that's how the phone works Zane, you understand?"
"Um....yes." As Zane responded I began to hear a loud rapping on my front door. When I got down and answered the door I saw that it was a messenger from the ministers. Cursing at my forgetfulness I greeted him.
"Sir, you were supposed to attend a meeting with the ministers five hours ago. As you have forgotten or skipped their previous invitation, they now order you to see meet them in a meeting concerning this war.....um political matter."
"Tell the ministers I'll be there before this hour is up."
"Yes sir," once said, the messenger handed me the message, picked up his pack, and walked back to the central building.

    Part Five
"Hey, Zane get down here!" I called. Watching the boy walk down the stairs I began to formulate a plan on what to say to the ministers.
    "What is it, sir?"
"Zane, don't call me sir it seems to formal. Right now you're a guest of my house and as a guest you are allowed to address me by my name."
    "What is your name si.....mister?"
"I'm Hector Diarva; president Nasser's chief advisor on issues concerning the economy and war." Remembering the boy's previous question I took a hold of the boy's hand and pulled him closer so his ear was in whispering range. Then in a low whisper I told Zane, "We're going on a secret meeting in the central building, OK?"
Zane looked to be mesmerized by the prospect of a secret. Not appearing to be incensed at the fact that he was just being dragged on the soles of his feet to the central building. It wasn't until the two reached the doors of the building that Zane seemed to return to normal. Releasing my hold on the boy's hand I opened the doors and walked in. Not hearing footsteps behind me, I turned around. The look of complete disbelief was drawn on the boy's face again. It was understandable, the building was a place for the highest ranked men and women of the Arab states, for a person like Zane who had grown up not knowing what a phone was, it must be overwhelming.
"This is amazing!" the boys face quickly transitioned from disbelief to ecstasy as he ran inside spinning; hungrily staring at everything. Not wanting to have to answer a turret of questions I scooped Zane up and began for the meeting.
Once I reached the room of the meeting I crouched down to speak to Zane. "Hey Zane, for now I need you to stay out here and stay quiet. Just take a seat over there next to the vase, when I want you to come in I'll come out and get you." When I was sure the boy had understood I entered the room.
