• i looked onward as the wind blew me almost off the cliff. i could see that its was almost time to get home because no one was outside due to the police's regulation of time after 6 p.m.. But we could do nothing as our city of 3 million people was very rudimentary as we have inadequate utilities and policemen. i walked inside and heard my mother yelling "The water and the electricities off". "how can that be i paid the bills just yesterday"? my sister responded. "i don't know something about protecting the interests of the country by saying energy starting at 6 o' clock". i just went to my room and laid down on my bed staring at the picture of my dad. he had died defending the president in the revolution. we had to go to sleep before the patrol came by when they took our "offering". it was as good as stealing so that we could receive our food. i heard a terrible sound outside. i had heard a gunshot before but this was no gunshot so i went to my mothers room across the hall crying and shaking in terror. my mom said that it was a bomb and that tomorrow we were going to the ministry of state to get our passports so we could leave the violence we were borne into; not many people got passports as no one knew what was across the 600 ml wall that divided us from the "lower world". everyone said to stay with your family so that you can have a job and a family. That wasn't me, i wanted to be a doctor and help the people not be a servant cleaning other peoples homes. i didn't even want to clean my own home. soon i had fallen asleep. soon later i felt me fall to the floor ,then i heard and even louder sound. another bomb but this time not only did i hear it i felt it explode next to me as my mother vanished in an instant. i went out the door to see that the house was gone......i was the only survivor........
