• Chapter 12: Returning

The next thing Brad knew, he was standing in his living room with both Miranda and Ralph. Miranda stumbled over to the couch and collapsed with exhaustion.
“Wait, why did I have to grab your arm if you could’ve teleported me here from across the room, anyways?” Brad questioned.
Miranda lay there, breathing heavily for a short while before answering. “It takes more energy that way, which I’m obviously running out of. First I had to break the chains, and then I had to teleport Ralph. I didn’t have the energy to direct more power towards you and still use some on myself.” Once she ended, she began to get a light glow.
“Uh… what’s happening?” Brad worriedly asked.
“She’s about to return back to space. You knew this would happen eventually. She can’t stay away from her home forever, especially with the risks.”
“No! I don’t want to! I want to stay here, with you people, for the rest of my life,” Miranda shouted.
“Is there any way for you to stay? I need you here, too. What would there be to do when you’re gone?”
“Well, there might be one way…” Ralph paused.
“What? I’ll try anything!” Miranda shouted as the glow’s brightness steadily increased.
“You’ll have to give up all your power, but it has to go somewhere else.”
Miranda rose up her arm and an extremely light beam shot out the window from the palm of her hand. As this was happening, she was muttering some strange words. As the beam ended, she collapsed, the glow completely gone.
“Miranda? Miranda?” Brad shouted, trying to get her to come to.
“Hmm?” she muttered, her eyes opening slightly.
Brad attacked her, giving her a huge hug. He was overwhelmed with joy since she would be able to be by his side for the rest of his life. “Where did you send your power?”
“Back where it belongs, in space. No one on earth should have that influence and power. No one should have to suffer with not being allowed to go anywhere without 3 people following them.”
“I’m just glad that was your decision. You’re welcome to stay at this home as long as you want,” Ralph invited.
