• Chapter 4

    I had a dream while I was unconscious. I was running from someone. They killed Iyanjo and I happened to see it. I wanted to wake up but I kept running and running. Then I woke up.
    I was in the hospital and sweat covered my face like a mask. I looked around and Adriana was there in a chair and sleeping. I got up and felt dizzy. I slapped my head and woke up. I started to walk to the door. I walked down the hall and heard voices.
    “Dad let me see Kei.”
    “No Iyanjo, you haven’t seen him in 4 years and he’s forgotten about you. You’re lucky I even let you got to the same school.”
    “So what, you know Kei used to be my best friend. You just don’t like him because his dad is richer.”
    Slap. I looked over and Iyanjo was on the ground. My legs failed and I dropped to the hard floor.
    “K-Kei what are you doing here?” he said acting surprised.
    I didn’t say anything, I was to mad. He came over to me and tried to help me up. I didn’t want to have anything to do with him anymore so I got up and ran to my room. He ran after me because I could here him pounding on the door.
    “Go away you’re a nuisance you loser! You make me mad! All you do is tell lies! Go away I hate you!” I screamed, wanting to die, tears streaming down my face.
    I pushed all my strength against the door just to keep him out.
    Then he gave up and said, “Sorry for whatever I did Kei. I thought you wouldn’t find about this ever but I guess you did. I’m really sorry.”
    I heard his voice crack and he began to cry. I began to cry too and Adriana woke up and comforted me. I cried until sunset and we went to sleep again.


    “Mm, Adriana, why are we still in the hospital? “ I asked rubbing my eyes.
    I realized she wasn’t in there, just Iyanjo. I was shocked and my eyes hurt still.
    “You really shouldn’t sleep with your glasses on. It’s bad for your eyes, you know that right?” he said getting ready to leave.
    “Whatever, get out of my room.” I said getting up, to go to the door.
    “Who would ever want to be in here anyways crybaby?” He yelled slamming the door.
    Who does he think he is, that loser calling me a crybaby?
    I rubbed my eyes and went to the bathroom. I got there after I got lost in the hospital.
    I looked in the mirror and my eyes were actually swollen.
    Is that why they took me to the hospital? They should’ve taken me to the eye doctor.
    I went to the front desk and asked the man if I could leave. He said that a person was outside waiting for me to take me home. I left the counter and went out the back door. I knew Mr. Koba was there ready to take me to that house.
    “What took you so long Heh heh?” Adriana asked smiling.
    Usually when I went to the hospital, and I was there by myself, Adriana would wait at the back door and we’d go to some store. See what I mean by loyal. I Love Adriana like a twin sister even though she’s two years older then me. Evan is also two years older then me and Allison and Jessie both are a year older then me. I wish sometimes that I was born 17 instead of 15 because then I could relate to older people, be done with school, and finally become an architect.
    Adriana and I walked to the biggest store there was on Hagicon. Just like Nii-Chi Sakura it was pretty big. 7 feet tall and 2.5 million sq ft is the store Hagicon dreams. I loved this store because my parents never ever shopped at it. They would literally go to the next town for groceries and other things they needed.
    Adriana went in and I went in after her. We walked to the café we always go to. “Dream café hits the spot doesn’t it” Adriana said smiling.
    “Yeah let’s go in. I think Jessie, Allison, and idiot are in there.” I said with a chuckle.
    She hit my head but I knew what it was for. We went in and it wasn’t crowded like it usually was. It seemed different because we usually saw tons of people. People were spread out in places and we searched for our group.
    “I thought you called them Adriana.” I said with a frown on my face.
    “I did call them maybe they are hiding or something.” She said looking around.
    “Okay. What is today?” I asked starting to move to the counter.
    “It’s Thursday. Why do you ask?” She sat down and we started to talk to the cashier, Tony.
    His full name was Antonio Valdez but we call him Tony. He’s 20 but he’s a very cool person. When I was little he used to come over to my house all the time. He was my big sisters boyfriend but I loved him more then a brother. Then my big sister died and he vowed to her he would never go out with someone else. He loved my sister enough to almost die with her. Her name was Marissa Yukisho. She was just as nice as Adriana. She died last year. My dad didn’t even cry. I cried for about two weeks and my mom found out and went into depression.
    We have been waiting for about twenty minutes and Antonio finally said, “You know Evan and two other people left about an hour ago. Evan said to tell you we are at the movie plaza.” I looked at Antonio with disbelief. They ditched us?! Those losers freaking ditched us! I got up, gave the money and a tab to Antonio, grabbed Adriana’s arm, and stomped out of there.
    “Hey Kei you’re hurting me. Hey, stop, let go!”
    “What are you doing Kei? She yelled to you to stop. So why did you hurt her?” Evan said grabbing her.
    “You’re the one who ditched his girlfriend and me to go watch a movie! I’m leaving you, you can make to love to her all you want I hate you both anyway!” I yelled throwing Adriana at Evan.
    “Kei wait!”
    I ran till I left the store. I started to cry and dropped to the ground. I felt people staring at me but I was to mad to even care. I cried out in pain and tears flowed down my face.
    I got picked up off the ground and hugged. The person was warm and felt heart warming. I thought it was Adriana or Jessie first but then I realized it was Iyanjo. I didn’t care about before I only cared about him being with me. I was so happy. After a couple minutes of me crying, us hugging, and having gotten stared at he let go and dragged me back to my house. He said goodbye when we got there and I smiled and waved bye.
    I went into my house and heard Sora crying. I rushed upstairs to find that she had dropped her stuffed panda, Coco. I picked her up, then Coco, and went to my room.
    “Here you go Sora. You must have been lonely today with every one gone.”
    She listened to me and laughed at Coco. She was so cute. Her green eyes and black hair made her a real beauty. After a couple of minutes of her giggling she tried to say something rather then her baby talk.
    “I wuv fue Kai!” She said it with such enthusiasm that I laughed, smiled, and burst into tears. I called my mom on my cell phone.
    “She talked? What did she say? Wait Kei, where are you? We had Mr. Koba come get you and you left.” She said knocking things over.
    “Mom. Mom clam down. I am at the house. I left the hospital about an hour ago.
    By the way if you want to hear Sora I can put her on speaker.” I said wiping my tears.
    “Yes, yes please do.” She said pleading.
    “Okay here Sora talk.” I put the phone about 2 inches away from her face.
    “I wuv you mummy.” I heard my mom laugh really hard then cry.
    She hung up the phone and Sora was smiling. I took her downstairs and to the kitchen. Sora was different then most kids. When she was hungry she would smile. When she needs a diaper change she will laugh. When she is mad or sad she won’t cry but will stare you down. When she is happy or excited she will cry. All around Sora is a very cute 2 year old.
    I fed her and the doorbell rang. I picked her up and went to the door. She started to cry when I opened the door. It was Adriana, Evan, Jessie, and Allison. I left the door open and went back to the kitchen. I heard the door close and they sat down at the table.
    It was so awkward that I finally said, “AWKWARD!” they all laughed and Sora continued to cry.
    “Look Kei. I am going to be serious. I am sorry for ditching you and Adriana. Adriana and I talked about it and we are going out for pizza. Do you want to come?” Evan asked.
    I nodded my head and we left my house. I decided to take Sora because I couldn’t leave her there alone again.
    We got into Evan’s maroon BMW and drove off to the pizza parlor at Hagicon Dreams. He almost crashed into a tree because Adriana was taking off her shirt and he got really distracted. He was disappointed that she had a purple tank top on. He was also disappointed because I gave it to her. We all laughed but Adriana didn’t pay attention to us she was yelling at Evan. He didn’t talk back just kept on driving.
    In about five minutes or six we got to Hagicon dreams. It wasn’t crowded so we went straight to the pizza parlor. We got a table in the back row of the shop and got served our regular: Vegetarian meat pizza with Jalapeños. Jessie and Allison ate the vegetarian side. Evan and I ate the meat side and Adriana hates pizza so she watches us eat it in disgust. We shove it in her face most of the time but she has learned to cope with us being jerks. She eats the Jalapenos because everyone hates them.
    Adriana was holding Sora while I ate. Sora liked Adriana a lot and she said something to her while we were at the pizza parlor.
    “I wuv you Ana.” We got driven home and we didn’t talk about what had happened this morning. Everyone was talking about other stuff. Adriana and Evan were talking about there other friends Hammy, Michael, Toki, and Martin and how much they missed them because they were working in heaven. Allison was talking to Jessie about how much she hated going out with his brother. He looked really tired so I had Sora yawn in his ear.
    Evan finally got to my house after a couple of minutes of laughing. I went in and Evan parked his car in my drive way. I took Sora in and they all came in. My parents still weren’t home so we had a little sleep over because it was at least 7:00. Sora wanted to go to sleep so I put her to sleep and we partied downstairs. Even though the ghost Adriana believed in was there she didn’t care because she was with a lot of people.
    We partied for about two hours drinking alcohol that belonged to my parents, eating junk food, and dancing. We heard the door bell ring at about 9:00 so I went to go open it. It was Iyanjo.
    “Hic, hi Iyanjo you want to come in and, Hic, party with us, Hic.” I said smiling.
    “Uh are you drunk Kei.” He asked kind of surprised.
    “Oh come on silly stop refusing and party with us.’ I pulled him in and sat him on the couch.
    “Do you want a beer or a martini? In my, Hic, opinion they’re both delicious.” I asked drinking my beer.
    “A water is fine.” He said coming in the kitchen picking me up.
    “If your parents found out you would be in a lot of trouble. Besides none of you are even old enough to drink beer.” He said taking my beer away.
    “Hey I was drinking that, Hic. So what, my parents gave me beer to make me stop crying when I was little, Hic.” I said struggling to get out of his grip.
    Our heads were moving closer and closer and I had the sudden urge to kiss him. I moved my lips a little closer to his until he dropped me.
    “Ow, what did you do that for?” I said rubbing my head.
    “Adriana, Evan, Jessie, and Allison come in here!” he yelled taking a seat.
    They came in and sat down. I started to hear Sora cry so I went upstairs. Iyanjo followed me and I didn’t feel drunk or hazy anymore. Sora’s crying stopped so I ran to her room.
    I got in there and a person was in there. It looked like he was about to grab Sora so I tackled him.
    “Don’t you dare touch my sister!” I yelled knocking him out.
    I felt so worn out that I wanted to really get up and kiss Iyanjo. Instead he came over to me, picked me up, and kissed me. My whole body fell numb and I fainted in his arms.
