• After all the years I’ve dated Jeremy, I never would have guessed what he was. He was the most normal person I knew. His black hair, purple eyes, gave off a normal vibe. Even though he had pale skin, I thought it was just because he never tanned, but I was wrong.
Jeremy had pale skin because he was dead. He was somehow living off human blood. He was a vampire. Normally I would have just let it go and grin and bear it, but when he told me that he had fed on me, I began to scream.

I woke up from my dream of being a writer, to find that my room was freezing. Before I went to sleep I remembered closing my balcony door, and yet it was open, with lots of wind coming from outside.
I slowly walked over to the door, but as soon as I got close to it I heard someone whisper my name.
“Maya,” the soft voice whispered. “Don’t worry, Maya. I won’t hurt you, just come here.”
I walked outside. Now if I was writing this in a book, the character would have done something witty, and smart, like ask who the hell was calling her name. But me, in real life, I did what the voice told me to.
In the corner of my balcony was a shadow, a big, shadow. It had somehow sensed me staring at it, so it turned its head to show me its face.
The moon was out and gave me a little light so I could see some of the shadow’s facial features. I saw an emo haircut, like all the ones the boy loners at my school had. A dark eye, and beautifully sculptured lips that shone with red.
‘Blood.’ I thought, ‘it’s probably Jeremy, here to feed on me again.’ I thought furious that he would even come here.
“What do you want?” I asked him, with every part of anger in my body.
“You’re still mad.” He said, his voice a little depressed, “Look, Maya, I’m really sorry-”
“You should be sorry! Your used me so you could live, you lied to me! And now, I'm becoming a ******** vampire!” I calmed myself down. “You shouldn’t be here, my family’s asleep, and I’d like to keep it that way.”
    “But, Maya, I-” he began.
“GO! And don’t come back!” I quietly shouted. He hesitated, “Go, before you wake of my whole family.”
“Fine, but believe me, you’ll need me soon enough.” And with that, he jumped off the balcony, and ran home.
I walked back to my bedroom, making sure to lock and close my balcony door, just in case he got hungry.
I lied down in my bed, and prayed for sleep. It was 3 in the morning, and I had a busy day tomorrow. Luckily sleep came fast and quick.

“MAYA WAKE THE HELL UP!” I awoke to see my older brother, Sam, standing by my bed.
I slowly raised my head, “Why are you in my room?”
