• Part 1 Lost

    "Missing" Chapter 1
Rain was dipping through the holes in the ceiling of the old trailer. And one of the girls grabbed containers frantically to the dipping spots. So the water wouldn’t get all over the floor.
"Kim are you sure it's ok for you to go out in this rain…." She looks up at the dipping ceiling."...it's pouring."

"Amie, if I don’t go now..." Kim grabs a medium sized cooler."...there will be a super long line at the soup kitchen." Kim explained.

“I am hungry, though.” Amie thought to herself. "You got a point...” she signed. Shrugging her shoulders.

Kim puts down the cooler and walks over to Amie putting her hands on her shoulders.
"Aims don’t worry, ok." Amie signed shrugged her shoulders again she was quiet. Kim scowled at her"OOOOKKKK!"Kim exclaimed as her shock Amie's shoulders.

"Ok, Ok" Amie laughed. They both started laughing."Ok, go ahead." Amie laughed again.

"I'll be speedy quick so you won't even realize I was gone too long." Kim joked.

Amie giggled "Alrighty, but not too speedy quick" Amie did a sprinting motion in place.

Kim said "K, see you soon." Kim grabbed the cooler and pulled her blue jacket hood over her short brown wavy hair. "Bye, Love you."

Amie waves at her sister "Love ya, Bye."

Kim pushed the door opened and she quickly closed the door behind her. The rain was pouring down buckets and her jacket was already getting soaked.
“I’m so glad this jacket is waterproof.” She thought in her head as she hopped down the stairs and springy ran to the foot of the hill.
“I forgot how steep this hill was.” The hill was muddy and she knew this. But she knew exactly how to get up the hill moderately safely.
“Ok if I run up here fast with my arms pumping I'll hopefully get up there, no slipping.”She organized her thoughts in her head as she was stepping back from the hill. She pulled back like a sprinter getting ready to run a 100 yard dash. Kim started running arms pumping like with the cooler bobbing beside her. Her foot nearly slipped in the mud but she regained her composer and successfully got to the top.

“Phew I made it I thought I’ll probably fall back there. Ok I got to get there...”She started jogging on the side of the road on the right side of the border, toward the church.
“Gosh this rain is not letting up.” She could hardly see down the street and it was getting muddier. She didn’t realize there was a hole in the ground. And as she stepped down her left foot and ankle got stuck. She pulled her foot as she was going to run, but her right foot slipped and she lost her balance. The cooler was in her left hand and she couldn’t catch herself on the border. She fell over the border and her ankle snapped out of the hole and she fell down the hill hitting her head becoming unconscious.

“It been almost an hour since Kim left to get food. Where is she?” Amie was pacing back and forth picking up the containers and empting them in the sink.
“Of course we can’t drink this water; it’s disgusting.” She randomly thought to herself as she looked at the water in the container. With a disgusted face as she poured it in the sink.
“But she probably got there a little late some people live closer to the church” She signed.
“I’m going to go see if she’s ok, can’t wait anymore." The rain is only sprinkling so the containers shouldn’t get too filled up while I’m gone.” She didn’t even put up her hood. She just pushed the door opened and pushed closed behind and started running. She did the same pumping of her arms as Kim did and leaped to the top. The ground was still muddy as anything and she slipped a little when she landed from her leap.
“The ground is too muddy to run on I’ll just run on the street.” She started jogging on the edge of the street. She noticed a few cars on the right side of the road were stopped waiting. She looked farther down the street to see why there was traffic and she saw red and blue flashing lights.
”I got this real bad feeling my stomach I got to see what’s up.” She ran faster getting up to the crowd that formed there were cones blocking the crowd from coming any closer to the scene. “An Ambulance...”Amie said to herself as she looked at the flashing lights of the ambulance that was parked on the right side of street about 15 feet from the crowd the back doors were facing open. Amie tried to push through the people to see and she only got to see a little of the person on the stretcher.
“I think I saw blue...” But the doors closed before she could get a better look. The ambulance siren went on and it drove away from the crowd. The police got the cones and had traffic flowing again the crowd dispraised back to their homes just from the scene was houses. Amie went up to a young man in his twenties with his dog on a leash and she said, “Excuse me…” She tapped his shoulder as he was walking away. He turned around and said “Yes what is it.”
“Umm... What happened here?” Amie asked pointing to the hill.
“Well…” the man started. “…I was running with my dog Saber, since it was cool outside. Saber just started barking all of a sudden down this hill over here.” He walked over to the hill and Amie followed. “I was shocked to see a girl was down the hill” They both looked down and Amie saw a cooler.
“Is that, Kim’s cooler… but it’s pretty muddy I don’t know?” Amie thought in her head. The man continued.
“I wanted to see if she was ok by yelling to her, but she didn’t respond. I knew if I slid down to her to get her she may have a head injury so I called 911.”
“When they came did they say if she was ok?” Amie asked.
“They did, she was breathing but just unconscious and her head was bleeding and weren’t sure of any other injuries. I was going to visit or call later to check on her. By the way do you know her?’
“Oh… no, I don’t know her.” Amie lied. “I was just wondering.” She did a small smile. “Well thank you for telling me.”
“No problem, well have a nice day.” He said as he started to run down the street.
    “Ditto.” Amie called back.
The man smiled waved back at her.
Amie started walking toward the church on the sidewalk.
“I have no idea if that girl was Kim; all I have is the blue I saw and the muddy cooler. Hmmm…” Amie gathered her thoughts in her head. “I’ll just hope she’s at the church.”
When she got to church, she followed the sign that said soup kitchen. It led to a little trailer building that was near the church, it had tan plastic looking paneling. There was a large truck parked besides the building with lettering that said Soup Kitchen express. She went inside; the inside looked like a school lunch room. The lunch line was in front and to the right was a large long lunch table where people were sitting eating spaghetti. Amie started walking toward the table walking around trying to spot Kim. But she didn’t see her.
A teenage girl walked up to Amie wearing a “Soup Kitchen Express” shirt, “Are you looking for someone?”
She shocked Amie, Amie turned around “No, just walking around to dry off. “ She smiled back at her. “I hate lying.” She said in her head.
“Yeah, it’s still sprinkling. Well ok I was just wondering.” She walked away and went to people at the table.
Amie exited the Soup Kitchen, and was walking on the sidewalk. The feeling of Kim being gone, hit her all at once. And tears started falling from her eyes. “What do I do now… if that girl was Kim going to the hospital? Then, they’ll find out that she’s homeless and she’ll be put up… for adoption and... I’ll….may never-“ her thoughts were broken by her crying harder and she slid against curtain covered window of a Hair salon.
