• NeverMore

    Prologue
It began with the day I died.
    Ooooo, ominous music, right?
Well, I wish it were just a regular ghost story. You see, up until my 14th birthday, I was just a regular girl. No troubles. Nobody chasing after me. No powers.
And no annoying little pipsqueak named “Joker,” following me around, annoying the crap out of me.
    But more on that later.
First off, I should explain how this happened. How I got my powers.
On the day of my 14th birthday, I, Raven Nevermore, had a whole party planned out. I had invited my entire class, and guess how many people showed up?
    Three. Out of forty-five.
Well, four, if you count me.
Oh, and Joker. But he wasn’t invited.
So while I was having my pathetic little birthday party, this guy in a yellow and green cape shows up. My three friends and me are wondering who he is; I thought he was a serial killer, my friends thought he was hot, you get the idea. That’s how much my opinions differ from that of my friends. So he comes up to us and says, in this weird little voice,
    “Somebody order a clown?”
‘Oh no’ I think, ‘My parents called for a clown to come to my 14th birthday party??????’
If only I’d stopped to consider that maybe my parents didn’t order him, maybe he wasn’t a real clown. Maybe things would’ve been different. Maybe.
At this point, I’m beyond embarrassment. So I did what any other girl would do. I told him to beat it. I was hoping I wouldn’t have to pay anything for his services, you know, because I wasn’t ever even going to consider using him.
Oh, but I did have to pay.
My little command about telling him to beat it really ticked him off.
So he shot me. Not with a gun, but with arrows.
    And needles. Lots of them.
    Way to overreact.
    Geez..........
When I came to, I was lying face down on a cold surface.
‘Am I dead?’ Was my first thought.
I remembered the strange clown at my pathetic party. I remembered him shooting me. And….I remembered something else, but I knew that shouldn’t be right, because I should’ve just died instantly, right?
    Wrong.
I remembered the hoard of arrows and needles piercing my body all over, and I remembered wishing that I could have the power to throttle the clown, without having to move. I wished that I could have extraordinary powers that would allow me to get back at him, because he would probably go after my friends and family next.
    I got my wish.
I opened my eyes, and had a split second to scream, before I was hurled into a black and blue ball of energy.
I could feel the arrows and needles leaving my body, and they were replaced with the energy, giving me powers, and a new, steel determination, to destroy the clown who did this. No, not ‘the clown.’ That name didn’t fit him.
The Joker. There, that was better.
And no, not the one from BatMan.

    Chapter 1
    New Me
I open my eyes for the second time.
My friends and the pathetic party decorations are gone. They had gone two hours, thirty-three minutes, and fifty-two seconds ago.
Wait, how do I know that?
Whatever. Screw that. And what am I wearing? These light blue jeans? This green shirt? No. These clothes are much¬ too light. They have to go.
I push myself up off the cement, and there, standing in front of me, is Joker.
Without thinking, I raise my hand, and a blast of black energy shoots out and throws Joker across the yard. Much better.
Inside my deserted house, I look inside my closet. There’s nothing even close to being dark enough. I close my eyes and imagine a dark, dark blue cape and hood, with a black outfit underneath. When I open my eyes, there it is, floating in front of me.
    I pull it on.
Back outside again; a crowd of men in black suits, holding guns, are surrounding my house.
One of them steps forward and says,
“That’s her. Get her! Do not let her escape.”
Pathetic. I think to myself. They think they can get me with mere guns?
The crowd of men surges forward, but with just a cross wave with my hand, the black energy slashes them back. That takes care of all the pathetic little men in front of me.
Too easy. Now lets see... If Joker is still around, I should be able to find him by-
But I’m cut off by thousands of coiled steel ropes wrapping themselves around me. I forgot to check for more of the miserable men behind me as I came out from my house. Within seconds, I could barely move, and a surge of electricity passed through my veins. I have barely enough time to notice Joker standing in front of me before the electricity reaches my head, and forces me to lose all awareness.

    Chapter 2
    Quarantine
Some insignificant mortal kicking my side awakes me. Without looking, I can tell its Joker. Even though the steel ropes are still wrapped around me, I manage to twist my hand towards the direction that the kick came from. Out of the corner of my eye, I can see the black energy come out of my hand and throw Joker across the van.
The van? When did I get into a van? The men from before must’ve put me in here.
Now that Joker is taken care of, I realize that I have to get out of the van. Who knew where they were taking me? Come to think of it, who were they? Before I can use my new powers to destroy the steel ropes, the van screeches to a stop, causing me to roll over, and slam into the wall.
By now Joker has gotten back up onto his feet, and is yanking me to my feet.

yup yup, thats all ive got so far. the next thing that happens is: raven and joker are put underground with other powerful kids, and are kept there for months. over that time, joker falls in love with raven. (shocker!!!!!) she hates his guts. they learn each others storys, and the story goes on from there.
