• Chapter 1: FaMiLy

    "I always knew it would come to this..." a young boy's voice

    whispered... "Everything was just too perfect..." it continued.."and nothing

    good lasts forever''.. the boy stood on a cliff overlooking the remains of a

    burning village...a wolf was perched next to the boy, howling in what seemed

    to be a sad tone..."Its heartbreaking isn't it Ko...?'' the boy appeared to be

    talking to the animal as a friend, as if it could understand him...and it

    could. "For my entire life everything seemed so perfect....every human that

    was born had an animal partner born somewhere at the exact same time, and

    the only difficult thing in our lives was to find them...but now, on my 13th

    birthday no less...everything HAD to change!" the young man stood up yelling

    at the moon, revealing his shoulder-length brown and tan skin wrapped in an

    all white robe...his brown eyes welled up with tears as he continued..."I knew

    something was different about me....could I be 'the curse', Ko...? That's what

    everybody's been calling me lately...it seems like after I found you, there's

    been nothing but disaster...''the boy said in a hopeless tone...Ko whimpered

    as his partner suffered such emotional torment.." There he is!" a voice

    shouted. " It's that cursed boy! Kino! Let's get rid of him, maybe that'll stop

    this madness!'' another voice shouted as an angry mob approached the boy,

    Ko barked at them in a desperate atttempt to save his master...but it was no

    use they were closing in fast..." It's okay, Ko...it's better this way..." Kino

    whimpered.. "RAAA!!!" a mighty roar echoed from the bottom of the cliff as a

    man riding a lion appeared from the sky and jumped right over Kino landing in

    front of him...creating a wall between the boy and the mob. " Leave this boy

    alone, he's done nothing wrong." the man spoke in a strong voice...he was a

    young man, but older than Kino..with short black hair and an all black cloak on

    he looked very menacing riding his partner...the lioness Balla. "Back off Kira,

    that kid is poison he deserves to die." a voice shouted and it created an

    uproar among the crowd. "That may be, but if you wanna get to him...you'll

    have to defeat me and Balla...think you're up for it..?" "You aren't the only one

    with a spirit animal you fool, we all have one....What makes you so special..?"

    There was a breif silece broken by Balla's mighty roar. "I've achieved, the True

    Spirit form of my partner....that's why." Kira replied with a cold stare... "That

    can't be...only a few people have done that...." one of the angry people

    replied..." Wanna test your luck...?" Kira replied. "Grrrr...let's get out of here

    before we all get ourselves killed.."one of the people said as they retreated,

    back to the village they came from. "It's a good thing I was only bluffing, right

    Balla...?" Kira said with a smile, then he turned his attention to the boy who

    was cuddled with his partner Ko...fighting back tears. "Don't worry kid, I'll take

    you back to the village...you're with me and Balla now...no need to worry."

    Kira said confidently. Kino hugged Kira tightly crying all over his torso..."Shhh,

    it'll be okay...I promise, we're gonna find out who REALLY did this and make

    them pay..." Kira said in a stern, strong voice. "Why.....did...you....save me..?"

    Kino said in between gasps from crying so hard..."Like I said, you're with me

    now...from now on we're brothers, you don't have a family and neither do

    I...we're all we've got, and together we're gonna stop what's been happening

    and whoever's causing it...alright, niichan..?" Kira replied in a protective tone.

    "Whoever is strong enough to take out an entire village has to be a powerful

    fighter...we MAY need backup...and I know just who to get." Kira thought to himself while conforting the boy....
